Maybe he hails from the American Midwest. With Wolf you can never tell. So far he has called 16 dwellings around the world home, giving his writing a cosmopolitan flair. His varied interests led to jobs in totally unrelated fields. Psychologists may diagnose him with ADHD, AADD, ADAD, or some other newfangled name, but really, he probably just cannot make up his mind. Makes for interesting reading, though. Wolf currently lives in a quiet, boring little town nobody knows, Love Vegas.

Right from the beginning Toni sucks us into her dark and grim world of a family so riddled with vices they have more than enough to spare. The at times beautiful settings do not detract from the horror that haunted her throughout her life. Only for r ...more

Disappointing given the cover blurb. I should have read the negative reviews before investing my time. The slow pacing and the boatloads of unrelated flashbacks do not jive with my idea of a thriller. Lots of detailed descriptions of this and that bu ...more

I loved the stories as a kid. It often shows, though, that May did all his research in the library and never visited the places he wrote about until later. Obviously, he didn't have the tools that we have in the Internet age. Still, 3 stars for accur ...more

Same as Winnetou. I loved the stories as a kid, but I'd forget the beginning of his meandering sentences by the time I reached the end of them. I do remember to this day the incredibly long name of his sidekick Hadschi Halef Omar Ben Hadschi Abul Abb ...more

My absolute favorite story, but as an adult I have a hard time with the heavy use of passive voice and the simple verbs. Granted, Tolkien wrote the book for children, but I can only give 4 stars for the language and the slow passages.

The first chapter is slow moving and it got worse from there. So little happens in the long chapters that I keep putting the book aside, because it's not pulling me in. I found the sex scenes boring and in parts unbelievable. Obviously, I'm not the t ...more
