When S. J. was little, she enjoyed writing stories and sharing them with her friends. Of course they were ridiculous, and, of course, she was supposed to be doing Math homework instead. However, those old stories lit the spark for sharing words with others. S. J. still avoids Math homework, and hopes you like her books more than fractions and decimals.

S. J. lives with her husband and four boys on a farm in The Middle of Nowhere, Michigan. Their family belongs to two dogs, one bored cat, and three horses. Most of S. J.'s free time is spent in the saddle, because she feels more comfortable there than on her own feet.

It's as simple as that. Who cares if your words aren't very good? They won't get any better if you keep them bottled up. Spew that awfulness onto the page, and then pat yourself on the back. You're a writer, nothin' "aspiring" about it. (less)

Hi Steve! I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner.

I used to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks in the 80s and 90s, but don't recall that segment. Was it in the older version?

The truth is, this isn't a new idea. When I wrote the story, it was only intended for my boys. It wasn't until I'd finished writing the first book that I was reminded of those that had gone before: Harold and the Purple Crayon, the old cartoon Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings, etc. I've read several of them now and I'm relieved that the differences generally end at the basic premise. Phew!(less)
