I've always been an avid reader. When I was a kid, it was Tolkien, King, and Bradbury. In school they made me read Hemingway, Steinbeck, and Orwell. My range expanded. Now I enjoy a variety of books from sci-fi and horror to historical fiction and literature. I like to read a variety of genres and styles, though I generally prefer stories with action to stories of people discussing their feelings.

My first novel is Strange Hunting, an adventure/Horror story that takes place in exotic locations all over the world. Its the story of a regular guy who decides to investigate the dark side of things: monsters, demons, unexplained events. What he finds is not always what he expects, but it's always an adventure.

Sometimes even I don't know what's going to happen until I'm in the process. That's fun, when a story takes on a life of its own, when I can't wait to sit down and write because I'm eager to see what happens next.(less)

Once I stumbled on the structure - each chapter is basically its own adventure - I saw all sorts of possibilities. Exotic locales, unusual characters, strange adventures. Ideas just started to flow and all I had to do was organize them, polish them up, get them on paper.(less)

Since I released my first book (Strange Hunting), I have had the good fortune to meet and correspond with a number of new, independent authors. Most of us are all in the same boat: We love to write, we have taken the time and effort to produce novels or short stories, and we now are in the position of having to promote and sell our books without help from a publisher. It's a tough job. Yes, wri... Read more of this blog post »
