Anarcho-capitalist, quietly 'out' trans guy, former belly dancer, coffee guzzler, highly-sensitive introvert, CrossFit enthusiast, and lover of m/m romantic fiction.

Another thing that really helps is exercise -- get the blood flowing, the body moving, and it helps clear the mind and let things click. Sometimes, I'll stumble upon something entirely unexpected -- from reading a book or an article, or a general conversation, or a chance encounter -- and it provides the spark that fills in the gap with which I was wrestling. Every day is a little bit different.(less)

Too many to choose!

Recently, Max and Charlie from Cate Ashwood's The Storm Before the Calm, because they're so sweet together without being overly (and unrealistically) saccharine.

Mike and Sean from TJ Klune's Murmuration. Klune said it was his most romantic book to date, and I fully agree. Such a sweet, slow-burn romance.

Liz and Darcy from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Because...well, come on, it's Pride and Prejudice!

Locke and Jean from Scott Lynch's The Lies of Locke Lamore. Ok, not a romantic couple, just a pair of thieves, but I love their friendship and their banter. So perfect.

Malec! Magnus and Alec from Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter books. They were the first openly gay fictional couple I came across (that I can recall), and I loved every minute of them on the page. I think I read those books more for that couple than for any other reason.

Benjamin and Jace from Jay Bell's Something About... series. I'm still not over that one. So beautiful and heartbreaking.(less)

Crime and Punishment in a Free Market

I’ve had a few readers ask why “police” didn’t get involved in certain situations that come up in my stories, so this is a long-overdue response to those queries. The short answer is: There are no police. Nor jails. Nor courts.

Now for the longer answer…

(And warning here that there may be spoilers for various books mentioned below.)

One of the fun things about writing stories set within a fictional world is that I can explore...below.)

“Fuckdamn,” said Conté, totally unable to help himself when the sums involved vanished over his mental horizon. “Beg pardon, Doña Sofia.”
“You should.” She drained her snifter in one quick unladylike gulp. “Your calculations are off. This merits a triple fuckdamn at least.”
