Hayden Wand has been writing stories since before she can remember, but only decided to pursue being an author after she realized her childhood dream jobs of becoming an international jewel thief or a private detective were surprisingly unattainable.

Her novella “The Wulver’s Rose” was published in Rooglewood Press’s FIVE ENCHANTED ROSES anthology, and she is also the author of two more fairy tale retellings: WITH BLOSSOMS GOLD and JANUARY SNOW, as well as the historical fiction novel HIDDEN PEARLS. She lives in South Carolina with her family.

It's not worn because it's so old, but rather because I loved it so much that I read it all the time. I related to the characters because they seemed to understand my own problems and I found that encouraging. If someone finds Hidden Pearls- or any of my books- encouraging in that way through life's physical and spiritual problems, then I think that's the highest thing I can aspire to.(less)

Thank you so much! There are many things I wish I knew when I first started my publishing journey, but one of the most important, I think, is to remember that the road to publishing is long, not short. It's important not to feel rushed into releasing something before it's ready, or because you feel like you have to operate on or compete with traditional publishing's timeline.

Thank you for your offer! Right now I'm not taking in anymore books for review (Quarantine has me swamped!), but I've added your novel to my to-read list for the future!(less)

"OH YES GUESS WHO GOT AN ARC OF THIS BEAUTEH

I love Intisar Khanani's books. This woman just keeps serving good stories full of adventure, fabulous characters and important themes. They aren't tropey, you couldn't summarise them with a bunch of ao3 tag" Read more of this review »

“Do you think God truly meant for us to keep Him locked in the church? Is He our Sunday pocket watch we only pull out for weddings and funerals and church services? He wishes for us to think about Him wherever we are. And a voice singing His praises at a ball is far less irreverent than a stone-cold heart sitting in a pew on Sunday morning.”
Hayden Wand, Hidden Pearls

“She hated colds. There was nothing romantic about them. Fainting spells were dramatic, life-threatening illnesses were interesting, and a handsome prince could always rescue you in the case of a twisted ankle, but all colds produced were puffy eyes and a red nose.”
Hayden Wand, Hidden Pearls

“You’re dead,” Amyot said, bearing down upon Benedict.

Benedict flashed an exhausted grin. “I don’t think Death likes me,” he said breathlessly. “We keep running in to each other before deciding to go our separate ways.”
