Author of Circus Mirandus, Tumble & Blue, and The Bootlace Magician .

Hi there! And thanks for reading!

Exciting news:

The Bootlace Magician is coming on October 1! I'm so, so, so happy about this story. It's the sequel to Circus Mirandus, and I feel like this one is for readers who finished that book and thought, "Okay, I'm ready for more of the circus, more of Micah learning about his talent, and lots more magic."

Of course I love all of my stories, but I think Bootlace is the book that best matches my tastes as a reader. I always want to see behind the scenes of a magical world. Hi, Kelsey!

I wanted to choose a subtle magic for Micah and Ephraim. I didn't think a flashy talent would fit them well, particularly Micah. And I wanted it to be something they could do with their hands. (As opposed to something less tangible, like saying magical words.) When it was time to make the decision, young Ephraim's boots (and laces) were already in the book, and knot tying seemed like just the thing!

I'm going through old responses, and I see I didn't answer the first half of your question!

The inspiration for different parts of the book came from a lot of places. You can read all about them on my website here, under the FAQ section: http://cassiebeasley.com/faq-circus-m...

Watch out for spoilers! :)(less)

My next book, THE BOOTLACE MAGICIAN, comes out on October 1st. It's my favorite of all my books so far! Readers of Circus Mirandus who wanted to see *more* circus and *more* magic--this one's for you!

It doesn't seem to be posted to Goodreads yet, but hopefully soon. :) (less)
