Samuel Bavli was interested in writing since he was a young boy. Language and story-telling were second nature to him. His father was a poet and professor of literature; and as a boy, Sam loved to write poems and short stories. For inspiration, he used his knowledge of history and ancient civilizations. His colorful characters were based on historical and Biblical figures, and on heroes portrayed in the myths of the Greeks, Norse, and Egyptians. Sam is currently a medical doctor, but his love of writing has never been stronger. The Secret of the Sphinx is his first novel. It is a middle grade time-travel adventure to ancient Egypt.

As in the previous two books in this series, the author tends to rehash a lot of information that he has already given us. Also, grammar is not the author's strong point. Nevertheless, he weaves a fascinating tale, and I enjoyed the book very much.
