Susan Lee Kerr is a creative writing tutor/coach, haiku poet and author. She is still under the influence of her great grandfather, having researched, written and just recently published his true life story as a novel. She chose to use imagination to give depth to facts.

Susan has also just published an ebook collection of exercises, ideas and advice for creative writing teachers, having herself taught 29,000 student hours of creative writing.

Conceived in Australia, Susan was born in West Virginia, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Gettysburg College, a Mademoiselle magazine Guest Editor and a New Yorker until half her lifetime ago she struck new roots (and true love) in England.

Of course once I had the breakthrough — after...

Absorbing and engaging, The Dissent of Annie Lang held me in the rebellious heart of a repressed Christian family in 1920s Midlands. It’s a family with rot at the centre and Annie, from age 6 to 12, senses but cannot comprehend the cause of the dysfu ...more

I love the idea of this book, and I love many of the anecdotes. I picked up a copy at a friend's house and idly opened to Red and was totally smitten (cochineal, among other things). And so I had to have my own copy. But in the end I am less smitten. ...more

"The disclaimers "I imagine", "perhaps", "possibly", "it could be that" appear in this NON-FICTION book far more times than they should.

To use a Britishism: twee. Can't believe it got a Pulitzer. Some lovely and accurate writing about WW2 situations, but there are sooo many books that do this. Too balanced between the tales of two sweet, innocent characters. Well done, but I found it ...more

“If the real world were a book, it would never find a publisher. Overlong, detailed to the point of distraction-and ultimately, without a major resolution.”
