Ellie Firestone lives in Texas with her family, two dogs, and a whole host of fictional characters. At various times in her life she has wanted to be an astronaut, a cowgirl, a ninja, a superhero, and an explorer. However, once she realized that a writer can be all of those things at once, she never looked back.

Ellie loves horses, swimming, and reading. When she's not writing, she can often be found at the stables, in the pool, or curled up on the sofa with a good book.

Ellie Firestone Science Fiction/Fantasy is definitely my favorite, both for writing and reading. Mystery comes in close second.

I have a three-step process for dealing with this.

1. Step away from the computer.
2. Lie down with my eyes closed and brainstorm. When did I get bored? What can I do to make it not boring? Will it be as simple as dropping a bomb right now, or will I have to delete the last 20 pages and start again?
3. Get my bottom back in the chair and don't stand up again until I've made some headway.

Writers' block -- I mean boredom -- is deadly. Because if the author gets bored, so does the reader. And if the reader gets bored ... the author is toast.(less)

A few days ago, I turned eighteen.

Now, there's a culture among young writers where 18 is THE DEADLINE. As in, if you're not traditionally published by eighteen, you've failed. You'll never be that child prodigy that wrote a bestseller. You'll never be the next Kody Keplinger or Christopher Paolini. Your most unique selling point is just ... gone. Now you're just a normal writer, like everyone Read more of this blog post »

I loved Alexandra Moody's ARC series, so I jumped at the chance to read this new book of hers. I have a weak spot for YA romances with some kind of twist, and a high school version of The Bachelor really tickled my fancy.

Okay, admittedly, about 80% of the reason I initially decided to pick up a copy of this book was because of THAT COVER. I'm a sucker for gorgeous covers. However, I can assure you that the story inside definitely does the cover justice.
