A recent diagnosis and my frustration with weight stigma in society and the healthcare industry led me to search for literature about weight loss written from someone in the middle of their journey. There isn't a book out there written from that perspective. I wanted to hear from someone who was battling the same thoughts and feelings I was having. So, I decided Plus Size Mama needed to be written for people like me. I'm tired of hearing from people who are on the other side of their journey. What about those in the middle? How did they get through plateaus? How did they handle those days when you feel worthless and weight loss seems impossible? I needed to hear those things. And I'm sure someone else does, too. Plus Size Mama is that kind of book.(less)

“The people who matter most will see.  What matters is that you live your life for you, not by what somebody else says is possible.”
Miranda Gargasz, Lemonade and Holy Stuff: Collected Essays

“My single greatest achievement was in breaking the cycle of abuse. As a mother I make sure to tell my children every day how much I love them. As we go through life together I try to teach them about how special they are, and how they should love others. I try to tell them that sometimes bad things happen, but we have the power to learn and grow from them—to make lemonade from all the lemons.”

“Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word.”
