Health.
When I was thinking about a subject to write about it came to me.
What affects everybody? The answer could be good health and although it rhymes wealth.
In fact the major part of the economic budget is spent on health related matters.
Yet having a regular healthy life style is not part of main stream eduction.
It was only after having a cardiac vascular incident the full importance of diet, exercise and rest would become so much more important. Indeed I would say a correct balance of all three is another important factor for continual good health.
What is a good balance? A health Authority recommends at least thirty minutes walk five times a week although it can be spaced out. If possible that could be doubled.
One third of your total food a week should be fruit and vegetables. Not forgetting to drink eight glasses of pure water per day. Oily fish twice a week is a good idea.
Last but not least have a good sleep by going early to bed and having a deep restful sleep.

Indecision
Sometimes little things can be important such as indecision. I am reminded about a story of a fox and cat. One day they were discussing danger. The fox boasted he had hundreds of ways to escape.
The cat barely had chance to reply as they heard the baying of a pack of hunting hounds. The fox began to revue all the different possible ways, but the cat from the safety of a high branch in a tree said “I only have one but it will be enough.” Soon the pack of dogs had their prey.
There is a famous film about a small passenger plane that crashes in the middle of a dessert. The choice is should the survivors stay and wait for rescue or try to help themselves? They have limited food and water and the choice is dire. After several days had passed one of the passengers revealed he was a plane designer and they should use the parts of the crashed plane to build a new one. After much hard work and heated argument they did fly to safety.
A highlight of the story is the fact
the plane designer was of model aeroplanes not passenger carrying ones.
I think indecision is dangerous. One might pause or hesitate for that bit too long and loose an opportunity all together. Sometimes one has to take that risk and keep in mind even if you make the wrong decision there is always the possibility that it can be rectified later...

Fairies
I had a thought the other day about fairies This was prompted by some toadstools appearing from nowhere in the front garden. My imagination produced a mirage of gaily little winged borrowers
flitting around the garden when no body is about. But on reflection Tinkerbell is a representative of the power that can be helpful to humans. For example was it chance or a fairy intervened so when a baby falls from a two storey building and lands unharmed on a shops awning or an infant after seven days is pulled alive from a collapsed building, As in my story a tiny creature survives a fall from a tall tree trapped under its mother's dead body. Was it a fairy that protected it from a hungry scavenger and then helped to persuade a benefactor to assume the role as foster mother.
Many people will know about the famous trick played on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Two young ladies used cut out figures of fairies and photographed them as real it was not until recently they confessed to what they had done.
A report of a prehistoric fish had been seen and drawn. The experts said it was impossible for a creature to have survived. Only a short time later a carcass of a recently killed specimen proved that indeed that species had survived.
A deliberate hoax does not prove fairies do not exist While we are talking about hoaxes. Does the piltdown man hoax prove evolution is flawed.
There are so many instances if you look carefully you can see the actions of fairies.

The time we live in.
It is easy to join the thought that today there are more inhuman acts being carried out than at any other time.
Historically there is a story told that a young prince on viewing the plight of his fellow countryman came to the conclusion that all the misery, pain and suffering in this world was caused by man,'s own desire and cravings for worldly possessions. He thought the solution to be abstinence.
He may have been right but at the time of the English civil war. Oliver Cromwell's England, was to sustain a period of severe public order that forbid music, laughing and dancing in the streets.
Eventually the English Government persuaded Charles Stewart the son of the former beheaded king to ascend the throne as King Charles the Second and head the constitution. The Country returned to a more tolerant way of living.
My point is moderation is a more acceptable way of living and too much of anything is not a good idea.
As for the conditions of the time we are living in I am reminded of my grandmother who every Sunday morning would read a National newspaper and loudly tell every body about a particular outrageous news event saying “What are things coming to!”
She always ignored my comment “If it upsets you so much why do you by the paper?”
The truth is she actually enjoyed and looked forward to reading the paper as it gave her some enjoyment like reading a comic.
Probably thing are no worse from other years and each generation would feel they are on the slippery slopes to Armageddon.

Paradise.
Sometimes things that are important can be in front of you but you are unable to see them.
People can spend money, time and effort in an attempt to find Paradise. Utopia or the land of dreams.
Moses spent forty years searching for the promised land and settled for a disputed territory that seems to cause never ending conflict.
I respect other peoples view of Paradise but for me I think it is a state of mind.
Surely Paradise is an individual gift, specific for each Pearson for example.
Apart from the time my wife said yes to marry me and my life changed for the better. I vividly recall the time before my eighth Christmas and I was driving my parents crazy with a never ending
“when will it be Christmas?” Outside the weather was cold and already snow was covering the window. On one side of the living room under a Christmas tree a small growing pile of gaily wrapped presents.
Each day my excitement was increasing but time passed so slowly until it was the night before Christmas. My Mother insisted I had a bath as Father Christmas would appreciate the curtsey of taken the trouble to smell nice for him. I slid in-between the cold clean sheets as
my Mother bent and kissed me on the forehead. “You know it has to be Christmas day before you open any of your presents.” She switched the light off and closed the bedroom door. In those few moments as I relaxed into the crisp clean sheets that now were so pleasant with the build up of my own body heat and I closed my eyes and repeated the thought and feeling of forever falling full of anticipation.
The pitch black of the night had changed to streaks of daylight stabbing through the gaps of the pulled curtains and I blinked to see at the foot of my bed an irregular mound of something indeed some of the objects were laying on top off the duvet. With mounting joy I realised it was Christmas day and I excitedly called out if I could open my presents. My mother said “can you wait a little so we can watch you.”
That for me will always be a cherished memory and truly paradise and even now tears of happy emotion.

Barbarism .
At the present, religious extremists are dominating the news with barbaric action. I think it is important to bear in mind there are good and bad people and no religion or philosophy is immune to the acts of individuals. For example at the height of the slave trade to America the churches had the most attendance to tirades of hell and brimstone by preachers to supposed wrongdoers.
To be fair men of religious faith and former slavers strived to end the cruel business of slavery but for a balanced picture it must be mentioned the was a thriving traffic of poor and apprenticed
white citizens of London including thousands of children sent to the New World. Most would die before the end of the year.
Any form of death penalty is shocking especially if it is viewed to be unjust. Can beheading ever be just? King Henry the eighth had no alternative although with much regret to order the beheading of two of his wives. Later his daughter Queen Elizabeth the first reluctantly after much pressure and delay signed the death warrant to behead Mary Queen of Scots. She was accused of leading a plot to dethrone Queen Elizabeth the first and re-establish the Catholic supremacy throughout England.
The house of parliament by just one vote ordered the beheading of King Charles the first. The vote was sixty eight in favour to sixty seven against,
France chose the guillotine as it is claimed to be more humane and invented by a doctor. During the great French revolution the execution had become a public spectacle for mass witnessing of justice for the poor people of France.
Sometime fact is more horrific than fiction.

Innovention.
While I was taken my constitution regular exercise walk the picture of a high jumper flashed through my mind. The novelty of the image was the jumper had executed a Fosbury flop that set me thinking how somebody can revolutionise how things are done. Take for example the vacuum cleaner that looses no suction or runs by battery power. Then the design of cars without running boards and has an electronic route finder. At one time no one would ever think it possible for man to propel himself in the air by his own muscle power or soar and glide in a plane with no engine.
Of course I can not omit the electric light and the production of electric power. In medicine it is early days but progress is being made in stimulating paralysed muscles so patients can
walk again.
Sometimes it needs incredible bravery and fortitude as displayed by Florence Nightingale to establish new care and treatment for wounded soldiers
By good fortune Christopher Columbus is credited with discovering the continent of America although he was attempting to find a new passage west to the Indies.
Penicillin was another stroke of good luck by Alexander Fleming who on returning from holiday noticed some green mould on a Petri dish had no bacteria surrounding it.
Some people believe life is predestined. But does that mean we should not strive and be inventive to achieve as much as possible rather than waiting for fate.
This is the theme of my first book.

Taken for a mug or good deed.
The other day I was stopped in the street by a man who was desperate for a little change to get him home. My first thought was to refuse as I have herd of other cases where people have been attacked and robbed. But in the past I have not acted as a good Samaritan and more as Scrooge. This was an opportunity to make amends for all the times I have failed to act in the best way.
The is also the fact the man wanted money for drink or drugs but if I took notice of that thought I could be depriving a fellow human-being of some urgently needed help.
I believe it is better to ignore the possibility of being lied to than failing to give help when it is genuinely asked for.

Imagination.
In a theme from my story a central character gave a gift of friendship and it occurred to me that as children we regularly use are imagination for enjoyment. Later in life we become involved with every day things and miss out on a really enjoyable pass time. I would like you to go on a journey with me.
First find a place were you can be comfortable and not be disturbed. After reading this close your eyes and relive the experience.
It is a glorious day and there has just been a short summer fall of rain but you are in the dry laying on your back under some green foliage. You can see up through the gaps in the leaves a beautiful blue sky with fluffy white clouds and then a rainbow. Lower in the foliage is a large spiders web that is gently moving as droplets of rain shimmer and sparkle with gorgeous colour.
It is mid day and the birds are singing happy to be alive. You can smell lavender and in the distance the sound of a burbling brook. Everything is bright and vibrant after the life enhancing rain.
You see a white butterfly then a new multi coloured species and shape you have never seen before. You become aware of grasshoppers and the faint regular croaking of frogs. Near you are some red tulips and yellow daffodils behind them tall sunflowers that are swaying in the breeze. Busy bees are pollinating them as fast as they can.
A red squirrel runs a long the branch of a tree opposite you and then returns clutching a nut in its front hand like paws half way along the branch he is covered by a large ominous shadow. It drops the nut and scurry s away up the bough of the tree for safety. The reason for the squirrels retreat soon shows itself as a large deep black coloured bird swoops down and within arms reach of you gathers up the nut. It struts along although it can see you it has no fear and for a brief moment you experience the joy of being part of nature with harmony.
The bird eats the nut and when finished departs. The weather is very warm and you feel the relaxing heat of the Sun and close your eyes. You relax to enjoy the most refreshing sleep.

Adam and Eve.
To understand better the difference between men and women characters I researched the physical and mental characteristics of each and what a surprise!
The prototype of a human is scientifically proved to be a female form until several bursts of either male or female hormone will decide its eventual sex.
Apart from the obvious men and women are different. In order to benefit from that knowledge a little bit of study will show first humans are prone to monthly highs and lows of hormones that do not just affect the body but radically alter our disposition. Secondly our interpretation of what is important and language.
“Mary where is my clean shirt?”
“It's hanging in the cupboard.”
“Which cupboard I can't see it”
Mary in exasperation goes into the bedroom and walks past three cupboards to the right one.
John says “You didn't say the shirt cupboard.”
Mary is driving and John is giving directions.
“Take the second left after the zebra crossing.”
“Stop.” Shouts John. “We are going the wrong way down a no entry road.”
Mary complains “You said take the second left.”
“Yes I meant the second legal left turning.”
Men usually excel in spacial tasks such as parallel parking the car and constructing three D objects.
In general the opposite sex do not know the priority of what the other is thinking.
Men respond to physical stimulus where as female delight in words that compliment
and show the man is thinking of her.
Women are far more able to pick up feelings and emotion as well as multi tasking.
Men need silence and are not able to do more than one thing at a time.
For women, making love means romance; Music, whine, chocolates, flowers, words of love.
Men think making love is an opportunity for sex and can easily be ready by seeing the female form and delight if the light is on. Whereas females prefer the dark and even talk.
Men tend to fall asleep instantly on completion of the task whereas women feel a need of sharing emotionally the experience.
