Improving Well being.

Being able to greatly increase mental and physical welfare is not as difficult when applying a little
knowledge. Take breathing, we do it without a thought of how it can be improved. Yet this vital activity is the gateway of good health. The often thought of as simple, act of breathing, can be a real asset in achieving the ultimate mindset or state of healthy well being.

This is one exercise which can make a difference to the way one thinks about breathing and how one can use it to support their own daily routine. Finding a good place for access to clean fresh air is the best way to start. Take a deep breath in through the nose and hold the breadth for about ten to twenty seconds. One can of course start lower and build up to the full twenty seconds but the actual action of holding the breath allows for full absorption of oxygen into the body. Once the breath has been taken and held, then concentrate on the action as you exhale out through the mouth slowly and surely.

Participating in this slow, methodic technique of mindful breathing regularly, allowing for a few good breaths of fresh air to fill the lungs is a great way of ensuring that one sustains the body with one of the main requirements that it needs. What is even better, is to do this activity in glorious sunlight to stimulate vitamin D, and if your not aware of it this will boost vital blood cholesterol sulphate. The cholesterol sulphate does the important job of stabilising the red blood cells and increasing the efficiency of blood flow through the vascular system.

Doing exercise is another widely recognised as important physical and mentally stimulating activity, but a little adjustment can even improve the return of effort in this means of motivation, by a considerable amount. It may sound odd but increasing the amount of weight you have with you and not necessarily on you, when going for a walk, will naturally improve benefit of the walk. Often taking little steps towards improving on what you already have the capacity to do, can itself help to make someone fitter and in turn, healthier. When doing press ups, if you slow the action down and take more effort in lowering your body at a slower pace before lifting up again, so more energy is being used and this subsequently is good for increasing the return of the activity.

Improving well being can be ever so easy and rewarding. What one believes about their mental and physical capabilities is very important and a fact that can either increase or limit future improvement. That is why visualisation is an important tool in increasing ones’ capabilities. Extending the limits of physical and mental capability is perhaps best achieved by small but positive daily steps.

When approaching the field of well being, more than belief is technique, using what you have to the uppermost potential while simultaneously incorporating knowledge of how best to achieve what ever goal is set.

My Religious Terminology.

There are times in life when one might be asked those big, definitive and significant questions. You know the ones, they can include thoughts about your identity, feelings and then there is the basic but definitively provocative, what is your religion?

When faced with a question surrounding religion, multiple notions can become involved. Here is a very short summary of the possibilities and my definitions on these selected, prominent religions.

My religious terminology, if we start with A, this for me stands as for the Abraham God that has three main branches as well as numerous sub-variations. The belief is that there is only one God and its ideas are recorded in holy books.

B stands for Buddhism and it could be implied that it has a view that all life involves difficulties and in order to achieve a sense of personal spiritual divination, one should remove all feelings of unnecessary physical acquisition. One of Buddhism’s main aspects is that it does not conflict with other religions and can coexist with other lines of practice and belief.

C stands for Confucius who acknowledges a supreme force but concentrates on the responsibility of the individual to do right and by so doing benefit society.

D stands for Dharma which can associate to the way and part of the principals of Hinduism, which states there is a God called Brahman who is formless but embodies all truth and reality. It proclaims life is a continuous cycle of reincarnation, with a possible point of enlightenment and that is Nirvana, which will ensure everlasting being.

There are two more positions involving the use of A, Agnostics and Atheists. Agnostics think nothing is knowable about God or its nature. Atheism takes the position that there is not sufficient evidence for a belief in God or Gods.

It is interesting that possibly all world views share a positive understanding of the golden rule, and that is do unto others as you would have them do to you.

What happens in life surely should reflect our stated ideals but so often the target is missed or misunderstood. Religions at their best should not be an unattainable or discriminatory means of motivation but a moral and positive guide as to how one can live life better, more fulfilled and share a sense of love that unites instead of divides.

Levitation.

Come with me for a mere moment and let us step into the splendid conceptual arena. Why? Levitation, in one word, is the answer. Yes, I do mean the fantastic floating that you might have seen displayed by experts in a trance or deep meditation. Epic scenes of this type of levitation have been used time and time again in films and demonstrations of multiple genres. Conceptual though for many this idea of levitation might be, there have been in fact many incidents and reports of physical practices of it.

The idea of rising up and floating unaided in the air is a fascinating phenomenon and although this is a common dream experience, in actual practice, it does somewhat mystify and perplex. There have been many reported sightings of examples in levitation, chiefly with extremely experienced religious figures demonstrating this unique ability. However an interesting contest arose between two exponents of this art, one bearing the cloak of God brought the contest to a sudden end by removing his competitor’s ability to fly. Unfortunately this sudden stop was precisely at the time that the competitor was high in the air!

Regularly from a high building a gentleman, for entertainment, would step out of an open window
and then return back through another window on the same floor. Could this be an illusion as it does appear to stretch the bounds of reality, or is there more to how this kind of achievement can be reached?

A report from China included thousands of spectators who collectively saw a floating city in the sky. Was this just an unusual cloud formation resembling buildings or a real levitating city that was for that temporary time visible to those people?

Is seeing believing or does it depend on the circumstances? One particular entertaining snapshot of a suitable dressed figure suspended in mid-air whilst sitting and with appropriately crossed legs had all the believability to indeed demonstrate an instance of levitation. Take note of the word instance, as in fact the same floating figure had seconds previous to the shot, simply jumped high into the air and simultaneously crossed his legs. All the action had been achieved fractionally prior and in preparation of the impending photograph, after of course which he very shortly landed on the ground.

Indian gurus often demonstrate levitation but exactly how is shrouded in mystery, this can be in the use of a tent covering the object of sight, both before and after the demonstration. Could it be that an innocuous looking wooden walking stick used in one example might have an important part to the success of the subsequent act of levitation?

We know that a professional magician is using a trick to perform the illusion of levitating people
and objects, purely for our entertainment purposes. However, there is a powerful drive that persists in causing for many, the thought, that levitation is a reality. Many people have had experiences of a levitation and these can originate from an early age. There have been numerous reports of individuals claiming that as a child standing at the top of a staircase with closed eyes and a wish to get down the stairs, moments later they had inexplicably opened their eyes to have found themselves either sitting or standing safely at the bottom of the stairs.

Culturally, religiously or for purposes of entertainment, the subject of levitation has long baffled the human mind. Indeed there are depictions which can be readily explained away as illusion or complicated artistic methodology but there are harder to define, sometimes even previously impossible, exhibitions of levitation seemingly at work. Whether you know these demonstrations of sheer physical intrigue from film or first-hand witness, one has to conclude, that they certainly astound many forms of conventional comprehension.

The WONDERS of Art.

How many times have we bemoaned the fact that we can not do this or that when in actual fact it is the task itself that casts a foreboding block in our minds. On occasion the objective might not even have ever been attempted but the decision already made that it would be impossible or simply something that we can not do.

We may be content to pass the opportunity by, when all it takes is a slight push to lift the curtain and reveal the potential that is within all of us. Take drawing, it is a talent that most people will envy. In this actual example, in front of an invited audience, a spectacular phenomenon was about to take place. On being asked how many people in the audience could draw a tiny amount of hands were tentatively raised but by the end of the show everyone had a beam on their faces as they, in a few moments, had created their own Mona Lisa so to speak.

If you have an open mind and are wiling to have a go, often that is all that is necessary to start a love affair with art. From the stage, on the easel, a v shape for a nose on its side is the first mark of the character that the audience armed with pencil and paper drew. Then above it, two parallel six shapes for eyes. Level with the eyes was a curve for the ear and under the eyes an upward curve for a smiling mouth. Over the top of the eyes and around the ear a curve of short spiky lines for hair and a loose s shape for chin and neck, a parallel vertical line drawn down for the back of the neck with a half circle around the base of the neck for the top of the jersey and two horizontal lines either side for the shoulders. From then on there are countless variations to the features that denote the mood and personality of the character created and that is your own personal successful venture to being an artist.

A group of patients who had suffered a stroke that interfered with their communication ability were with their carers and involved in another audience prepared to participate in attempting to draw. After the event pictures of the delighted participants were a tonic for all to see. Their faces and carers were bathed in smiles of delight at their accomplishment. The most interesting feature perhaps was that most of the patients actually used the opposite hand to which they were dependent before their strokes, but they had used this new side of their bodies to astoundingly draw their truly sublime cartoons.

What limits are achievements, is the belief we hold of our own capability, but that often is not
the true reflection of reality. Take a complex project and in an orderly fashion work on each part
piece by piece. Mistakes are the building blocks of success. We are disheartened when at the first
attempt we do not achieve perfection but perseverance is needed to achieve anything worthwhile.

New Year's resolutions.

It’s that time of year again! Yay or nay about it, now that the colours and ceremony have been experienced, there is a definite question hanging in the air. What possible brand new, New Year resolution will be worth contemplating and adhering to with any valid sense of consistency? Not to be put of by well intentioned but failed earlier attempts at improving oneself or doing something that provides a positive result, perhaps easier said than done, this beginning beckons with a looming of a more defining and enlightening prospect.

How about that bulging belly fuelled with the traditional overeating of times not so long ago, the excesses might well be a not so loved reminder that the eating and not to mention the drinking, could have provided a logical New Year resolution all of its own. The spirit is strong and the intention clear but what is the right time to put the theory into practice?

If a resolution is too difficult to accomplish or sustain, then it will never become a reality. Lifestyle is the route of maintaining good health so knowing key elements to achievement is a good place to start. Within the categories of food and drink are the switches that will dictate to whether fat is used for energy or stored away in the body. In fact funnily enough certain habits of eating and drinking will ensure stable or perpetual weight gain. Sleep and rest points are the times when important processes can take place in rejuvenating the entire body and helps with many of our body-based New Year resolutions. Learning how to calm oneself and reduce anxiety can be key contributors to losing weight, improving mind body health, even looking and feeling younger.

A point in time when one looks at oneself with a view of making improvements is not a bad thing. As most of our actions are motivated by the subconscious mind, it may be a little disconcerting that in reality we may not be the super man or women that we think we are. Although it may sound funny, doing good and generous things to others has a far greater return to the giver. Reflecting on what one can do about the positively resulting aspects of life can be a most enlightening route to success. One could already know so many beneficial facts yet not make use of them because caught up in the routine of habit, who always had those moments to seriously reflect and redirect themselves to the optimum mode of living.

Taking time to enjoy the imagination is a pastime that can on many occasions be underrated. There are no end of enjoyable scenarios that can involve swimming with dolphins or exploring Aladdin’s cave and in learning the technique of visualising with the imagination, stress management and relaxation can be achieved. It can be extremely beneficial to make one New Year resolution but from it, receive multiple positive results. In focusing or improving the mind, other physical aspects can slowly start to increase.

It is actions that count, no matter what belief or title one has, striving to make the right choice
has rewards that can benefit more individuals than only yourself. The past has a potential in shaping the future, but only if we are willing to learn from it.

Historic Celebrations.

Every year in multiple countries there is a publicly appreciated, special time of celebration and good will, to others. These traditions vary in name and the central theme but the goal is that for one period of time people set aside their differences and celebrate together. You might think that you are well aware of many of these celebrations but there are a few that at first glimpse could be perceived as more exuberant than philosophical but they all have origins steeped in tradition and culture.

St Patrick's day is when in Dublin, Ireland and New york, the USA comes to life in celebrating that particular cherished saint. The 17th of March is the time to be dressed in the colour green and that of course can include your face. It is a time to watch out for the leprechauns and be ready for an all out street parade.

Spain gets into the picture of huge celebrations with the biggest food fight of all time by highlighting the tomato. La Tomatina is when the streets of Valencia Spain turn red as everybody pelts the nearest person with squashed tomatoes. Arguably not one of the times to wear your best clothes!

If after that you fancy a beer and dressing up, then Oktoberfest, Munich, Germany is the place to be located. As the name may suggest, it does not start in the month of October but in actual fact begins in September and lasts eighteen solid days. People sing, there is merriment, and a good time is had by all.

For an outstanding street party where dressing up takes precedence, New Orleans in the USA is the place for you. The Mardi Gras lasts for two weeks of music and dance. There are marching bands and parades. The atmosphere is very jovial and I do not think that many would disagree that there is a definite celebration theme that ripples through the crowds.

A more quieter annual event that is cherished by children and looked forward to by adults is a visit
of a certain white bearded man, wearing black boots and a red costume. In many countries his name varies but he is known by many people to reside at the North Pole. Of course, his mode of transport is widely thought to be a sleigh and a full compliment of nine reindeer, if you count Rudolph and quite frankly it would be rude not to!

There are many institutions that also look forward to the same time of year. It is usually a busy time for shops and to mark the occasion street lights and displays are switched on. Either by marking the celebration through religion, contemplation or both, it is also the time to demonstrate peace and consideration to all.

It is encouraging that people of all nations and beliefs can through a common act of historic celebrations, share a zest for happiness, love and life. A trait which has such a positive influence and can carry with it, meaning and motivation.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very fulfilling Christmas time and a beautifully spectacular New Year! This blog will be taking a short festive break but will be back with you on the 6th January 2020!

Symbiosis.

Working together often is of greater benefit than slogging away individually and this can be true for many relevant areas of work and life. Have you heard of Symbiosis? It contains within it such a power house for change and development. It can very much resemble, a give back from what you receive, philosophy.

More than one billion years ago, bacteria were eating each other and that was until something unique happened. A swallowed bacteria survived inside inside of a host. The guest then took the opportunity to turn the abundance of food and oxygen collated, into chemical energy for the benefit of its host. The parts of independent DNA then became shared, resulting in a combined super powered single cell. That today is the foundation of all complex life forms, including us. This super cell is called Mitochondria.

A very apt example of symbiosis at work in wildlife can be seen in the humble ant. Ants have been farming fungi for an incredibly long time. Aphids exude a sweat sticky honeydew which can very much benefit the insect, the ant in turn protects the aphid from attack and it also seems to control the aphid with a chemical that reduces its mobility. The dung beetle is another example whereby it receives benefit from the otherwise waste produce of other animals, thus helping to enhance the environment.

The hermit crab can give sea anemones a ride and supply them with bits of food. In exchange the sea anemone has stinging cells that protect the duo from attack and when the hermit crab changes home for a larger shell the sea anemone transfers to the new larger shell, and the working partnership can continue their mutually beneficial association.

The crocodile has an envious set of teeth but when it comes to cleaning them, help can be required and the Egyptian plover bird is happy to oblige by picking food from the gaping jaws of the host. Both equally benefit from this action of timely give and take.

Unbelievable to many, tiny frogs and large tarantula spiders have been seen living together, as the small frogs can protect the spiders eggs by eating threatening insects and the spider reciprocates the action by protecting the frog from attack.

The way of nature may appear cruel at times and there are many different parasite creatures such as the parasitic wasp, that deposits its eggs inside other insects, as a means of furthering benefit with no real positive return. There are other instances of seemingly deviant pairings, especially when humans inadvertently become hosts for an unpleasant guest such as a tapeworm. Tapeworms that reside in the gut and render no advantage to their host are not an ideal partnership but still can manifest as a different variant of symbiosis.

Symbiosis usually applies to creatures living together but the ultimate result can be varied as to the benefits each creature experiences. Sometimes hostile or with solitary intent, at other times this miraculous means of working together can provide motivational and intriguingly splendid mutually beneficial results. Either way, nature depends on this scale of variations, and has long observed how the participants can flourish or fail along this survival and benefit line.

Brainwaves.

In an increasingly competitive life whereby everybody seems to feel compelled to do better or be better, one of the main occupations for many people does involve self improvement. Living your best life and finding your perfect means to do so is not always straightforward and to this end people spend a huge amount of money on various ideas about how to create the new Super You!

Without doubt mind and body are related, so an understanding of the mind in preparation for any kind of self development, would seem a good place to start. The state of mind in biological terms is reflected by electrical cycles that are measured in hertz. There are different frequencies of intensity and all states are present but become more or less dominant according to the state of being, hence the more relaxed one is, the lower the frequency of their brainwaves.

When fully wide awake and active the figure is 13 to 40 and is called the Beta state. This every day alertness is a result of the state of thinking and having ideas. However there is a more intense state that ranges upwards of 40 to 100 hertz and this is associated with the feeling of elation and super power.

The mind has two modes of being, the conscious and subconscious, Alpha is less active and ranges from 13 down to 7 and is the state of daydreaming, children are often most prone to enjoy this pleasant state. Next is Theta with a narrow range of 7 to 4 and this usually is just before the last stage of Delta which is 4 to 0. The last stage is very important for good health, as this is the time when the body can refresh itself.

Interesting conclusions can be drawn between people’s brainwaves and how they behave. One suggestion is that the wide awake Beta state of mind is in control of how we behave. In actual fact, it is only 5 per cent that is in control of this physical and emotive activity and the rest can be attributed to the subconscious. So in order to change, it is not the intellect but people’s subconscious mental view of how things are, that is a true starting point.

Every time one goes to sleep and then wakes up is the best time to induce that change. This is because the subconscious mind accepts, without judgement, everything to be true. At that particular time the brain and subsequently mindful thoughts are also more affected by images and emotion. If the notion of brainwaves is to be used as a tool, then affirmation and imagery of a successful changed you could be useful to focus on just before drifting off into a deep sleep. It can be useful not to highlight negative thoughts as these could be what is limiting to a belief about present day ability.

Brainwaves, the concept of how thoughts and impulses influence daily success and failure, have long been a point of investigation. In the past, one of the main theories focused on how critical remarks tended to be held on to by individuals, especially in their formative years. Impacting behaviour and belief about self development, the idea about what you think not only about yourself but the pressures around you, definitely play a part in what you do and what you can do in the future.

Fighting to Float.

R and R, the two letters that can seem so small when put together but serve to provide such a huge personal impact on our daily lives. Without it, the mind would struggle and the body would barely cope. Rest and relaxation is not a component of healthy living that everybody can always secure an awful lot of, but without it functioning can become an impossibility.

I thought it would be useful to share one of the most relaxing actions that gives me great satisfaction. Hardly a problem for some people who take to it as mere babes in arms, for me I did not discover the joy of it until quite late in life. In learning and accomplishing the skill, I came to a new novelty that enabled me to experience this pleasant pastime, a relaxing but invigorating activity that I could go and engage in at any convenient time. What was it? You might have guessed already but for those who have not, swimming is the activity that I am talking about.

To be specific, while everybody else I seemed to know had already gained their water wings, I did not and could not learn how to swim despite many attempts to master the skill. Even though frequent visits to the public baths had seen me no further into my swimming pursuits, I still valiantly went in for holding the side rail and kicking like fury, I felt overwhelmed and underwhelmed by the prospect at the same time. I had a fear that I could not conquer and nobody to inspire or motivate me in the ways of the water. I aimed for a slick and smooth swimmer’s regime but alas in the swimming pool I never actually moved onto real swimming. Even now to claim that I can swim fantastically would be stretching my capability, instead I was taught a skill from which swimming could readily progress, I was shown an almighty ability that would later go on to benefit me in multiple ways.

Floating, dear readers, is definitely my friend. Before you try to puzzle this one out, let me explain further. This ability to float means mastery of the fear involved, that terror that had held me back and stopped me from attempting to actually learn how to swim.

Fighting to float taught me how not to go about swimming. Being able to relax first in the water was paramount, learning to focus just on the ability to float helped to allay my fears of sinking in the water, I stopped fighting the water, and through floating it was that in a controlled way I accomplished a love of the swimming pool. Instructions these are not in a conventional manner but loosely if you follow these tips, you might also think of floating as an accompaniment to your swimming experience. Just stand in chest high water and leaning back, push feet up from the floor, as your legs rise start to tense them slightly and subsequently your body will start to become horizontal with the surface of the water and hey presto floating has been achieved. Now the enjoyment part comes! I bet you never knew there was all this secret unveiling of the real benefits to floating, but in life there are so many struggles and strains that when you fight and achieve a floating aim, you open a door to much available benefit. Try not to take your swimming experience for granted because floating can teach you that need to slow down, pause for thought and think about the sensation of the water around your physical self. When in a heated swimming pool, just relax and close your eyes and enjoy the sensation of floating on the back. It sounds simple but some of the greatest pleasures in life often are and the contentment that you can attain in doing this is as though for a short while you are entering a perfect state of mind and body bliss.

The great thing is a heated swimming pool is not vital to experience the pleasurable benefit of
relaxation. Anywhere that you go to immerse yourself in an aqua activity, a suitable quite spot can be found, and can afford the opportunity to enjoy the total floating experience.

If only I had been taught how to float earlier, I would have experienced the boundless potential that it has in providing a relaxing introduction to the water. If you are having problems learning how to swim, why not try floating on the back first? Floating can be a simple but significant step to success.

Active Morals.

It is from the dawn of human contemplation that there has been an epic consuming quest. Why is there an anything and everything?

In the search for that meaningful and massively mysterious truth, many ideas have been expounded. Some of these concepts do not heavily encompass morals whereas certain others most definitely, do. However, those ideas that include morals also need a conviction in faith that the idea is indeed, true. What if, hypothetically there is an idea that did not need faith to substantiate if it was true or not and it is a philosophy that rewards those who accept it by making them immortal. This way of thinking is factually true but in order to understand and accept it, one must forgo all moral choice and in fact carry out acts that are contrary to your own moral position.

Ideally, people or at least the majority, would reject the aforementioned idea. Although being believed to be true, it would not be enough to forgo principals of morality. Truth is important but the consequences can have a far greater affect on other aspects of life.

Ideas surrounding the significant question of why, have there own area of relevance and morals cover a different aspect of consequences.

The theory of the Big Bang starts from a point of something, and most beliefs of a deity construct are eternal, that equates to a something. The transfer of ideas to reality needs tangible physical proof and the Big Bang is limited but has proof of taking place. Deities are often outside normal physical proof, therefore they need a faith or belief.

Comprehensive, culturally and historically informative, active morals can be found in multiple ideals and beliefs. As long as people are wiling to recognise that having different ideas about how things are and began does not pose a threat to their own views, much can be learnt. Morals do place a responsibility on caring about what happens not just to yourself but to the people who are around you.

A set of moral values has no practical meaning until a personal understanding of how those
moral views affect the individual and society, is ascertained. That is what having active morals in the form of a moral conscious really matters in multiple and meaningful ways.
