Soccer ways and designing

After the hoopla of the globe Cup in South Africa, soccer or higher called football, is that the hottest game throughout the globe these days. the sport has several fans within the world significantly in five continents. rather like the other team game, football coaching are often thought of in preparation for a game wherever designing and techniques become high priorities to win games particularly within the skilled level. Here ar some basic ways so as for United States of America to grasp higher what's soccer or soccer:
The Basics
Soccer as a game is incredibly hard. It wants eleven players on the sector for every team at just the once. a decent football coach ought to apprehend the rudiments of the sport thus he will continuously apply ways and build plays for all the players within the game. A winning team wants plenty of communication, understanding, support and belief. Communication is a component and parcel of a decent game. All the players within the field got to communicate with one another in order that they will win games. Understanding and support ar required permanently players in order that there'll be team cohesion. the sport of soccer conjointly would like the pillar of belief thus all players are going to be determined to win games, for within the field it's continuously a war between 2 opposing groups. If these four pillars ar created use of by the coach and team members then and solely then that we will say that you just have a winning team.
Varieties of football formations
There ar plenty of sorts of football formations a team will use whether or not within the offensive or defensive strategy. One basic variety of formation is that the "4-4-2" formation -- a goalie, four midfielders, four defenders, and a couple of strikers. Another kind is that the "5-4-1", that means there ar five defenders, four midfielders, and a striker. clearly this formation is employed for defensive functions. Associate in Nursing offensive formation that is employed wide by professionals is that the "3-4-3". of these formations won't be effective if a tutor or employment workers won't acknowledge the strength every member of the team in order that they're going to shrewdness to use effective formations. a decent coach and a decent team can maximize their strength against their opponents' weaknesses.
Defensive football ways and football employment drills
All team-games use smart defensive ways and football employment drills to win games. this is often continuously faithful a game referred to as football once it employs eleven players within the field. Defensive ways will continuously win games. {a smart|an honest|a decent} defense could be a good offense. In soccer, a defensive strategy ought to center on a way to shield their goal. a decent goalie ought to have the mentality continuously to safeguard his goal in order that the opposing team won't get any score. A goal that's being protected throughout the sport is often a certain winner in football. One well-tried defensive strategy employs 2 defenders as full backs whereas the opposite 2 play midfielders.
Offensive football ways
After a decent defense, a decent offensive strategy should lean stress so as for the team to get a goal. this is often the time whereby the coach and his workers can use the strength of every team member for them to get a goal. Cohesiveness and fluid attacks to the opponents' goal will become a product of excellent coordination within the offense particularly deceptive attacks. Strikers within the team ought to have smart higher cognitive process and might communicate can with their team. while not the midfielders but, strikers cannot score a goal. therefore the strength of the offense is that the cohesiveness of the midfielders in mounting Associate in Nursing attack by smart communication with the strikers.

Dying for love

Excerpt from Flight of the Clockwork Angels:

Two centuries later I held on to the curl. It was all I had. The lightest breeze would scatter the soft baby hair like dandelion seeds on the breeze. This ancient bell tower was once a refuge and the place I met my lover away from prying eyes. It was also where I died.Tielo always had a romantic imagination. After all, he was an aristocrat not an assassin. Officially, it was Tielo's workroom where he constructed his artefacts. It was decades since any child of his family had needed to work, but the Justi were known to be eccentric. He told me 'work' started as an affectation to annoy his parents, but then he found that once he started he didn't know how to stop. Rebellion fizzled out in the face of society's indifference. So long as he merely played at 'art' and fulfilled his social obligations, no one cared if he spent his time working as a gentleman artificer. Though Tielo knew he was a genius, it would never have been acceptable for him to claim the credit for his own work. He resented having to sell his designs through an intermediary. It made him angry and reckless. His family had given him the run of this old tower and no one ever came here but us. Although he'd painted me and cast my image in bronze, 'my little Engels' he called them, neither of us ever pretended that when I stripped for him it was ever about the art. The art came later. Usually much later, and often when I was long gone back to my grandfather's house and the political world where we were rivals and enemies. Officially he was painting my portrait. We were young and naive then and believed the cover story was effective. Of course 'everyone' knew about us, and drunk on love neither of us cared to remember that we'd been thrown together—sacrificial lambs on the altar of our families' ambition. I thought I could have it all. I thought I could die for love. That I'd die without him.

Reader review for Flight of the Clockwork Angels

There is nothing nicer for a writer than to wake up to a friendly review.

I was thrilled to read this first reader review on Amazon.com this morning.

My favourite line - 'the tale was too short'.

I agree - I'd love to write more about Yvo and Tielo.

Maybe I will.

It is very tempting...

Everyone loves a wedding - right?

Yvo is getting married to daughter of the enemy. The Archon of the Steel City has decided that nothing ends a blood feud like a wedding. After all - it would be discourteous to kill relations by marriage. Surely even the Corbinians - noted assassins that they are - will refrain from poisoning the wedding breakfast?

And  neither Yvo nor his pale bride, Crescentia, have any choice but to obey. Love and honour play no part in this arranged ceremony.

Flight of the Clockwork Angels by Tris Merlin
So the day came when I led the fair Crescentia to the altar. She lisped her vows tremulously after the prince of the church, who'd been persuaded by a huge 'donation' to undertake the ceremony. Marriage, he said, had consequences and should be taken seriously. It was for the procreation of children. I hardly listened. It was perhaps ironic that in the very act of taking her small, cold hand in mine, I should turn and lock eyes with the one man I knew in one crowded instant would be the love of my life.(Forever lasts a very long time.)I mumbled through my vows and the ritual—well rehearsed in the archaic ceremony—but all the time aware that he was watching me as a hawk watches its prey. I was stealing glances when I could. We might as well have been alone in the cathedral; though for the sake of decorum it was possibly just as well that we weren't. I was dressed to thrill—a maiden's dream. My bride looked like a delicate china figurine that might snap in my hands. All the time I held her hand in mine and murmured the responses, I was aware of dark eyes that stripped me naked. As I drew my bride close for a chaste kiss I felt her recoil from my obvious arousal. Such maidenly modesty was to be expected. After all—we'd only been formally introduced the day before. Poor Crescentia—she must have known where my heart and my lust were straying, but then romantic love had never been part of the deal.

I've been amusing myself imagining what characters from the story might look like. This famous painting Young Woman with Unicorn by Raphael makes me think of Crescentia.

Today's the day!

Release day for Flight of the Clockwork Angels - my steampunk MM romance short story!

Here's the beginning :

Flight of the Clockwork Angels
"So what are you going to do," he said. "Kill me again, Yvo?"We both knew I could and, on one occasion, I had. I'd long reconciled myself to knowing he'd never let me forget it.Imagine rage in an indestructible body. Not pretty. That was two centuries ago but some things you don't forgive. I knew Tielo would never set me free.He glanced sideways at the clockwork angel, his sword raised high and threateningly at the dragon that cowered at its feet. I knew just how the dragon felt. It was no accident Tielo chose this as our meeting place. The sword of vengeance poised above my heart for eternity. Neither of us could ever relent. How can a clockwork heart melt?Today, however, I had more serious matters on my mind. The usual messenger had delivered a pale blond curl in the shape of a question mark. I knew what it meant. My latest descendant was now two years old and considered fair game. The soft hair clipped from the head of a sleeping infant arrived every generation. For all I knew it was a cruel hoax—there was no child—but I could never take the risk and find out I was wrong. I clenched my metal fist around it so Tielo wouldn't see. Let him think I was angry. I couldn't let him glimpse my despair though I feared the keen regard through his shuttered eyes. You might wonder why as his sometime murderer, I blamed him for his death. It did no good to argue as I had at my trial that I'd never intended for him to die. That as an assassin I had accepted a commission not knowing who the target was. Working in the dark went with the territory. If you knew the identity of those you killed, looked into the eyes of the victim then you might never live with yourself again. So the training told us and I'd had the best training in the world. No—it did me no good to confess I'd meant to kill someone else. The penalty was the same.I'd been paying interest on the blood price ever since. Bound to his descendants as an immortal serf until the time when the clockwork finally ran down and they let me go.It was an efficient form of punishment.
You might think I'd get used to it in time.
Flight of the Clockwork Angels is available from Silver Publishing.
With my thanks to my editor, Monti Shalosky, and as ever to Reese Dante for the cover art.

I'm in a competition!

Well this is exciting. Silver Publishing has a competition for Flight of the Clockwork Angels. You can check it out here

So if you'd like to know more about Yvo and Tielo and their somewhat murderous passion for each other you can read all about it...

Release day on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it.

Strange feeling when a story that started life early one summer morning on a train journey emerges into the light of day in February. Which is perhaps the shortest and cosiest month of the year, made for hot chocolate and snuggling up on the sofa with someone you love.

It all began with this sentence:

'So what are you going to do,' he said. 'Kill me again?'

Add in a bell tower - an artificer with an Icarus complex - a careless assassin - fear of heights and a dash of steampunk.

I hope you enjoy reading the story as much as I enjoyed writing it!
