Bear Symbolism in Dreams

Are you wondering about what the meanings of bear symbolism in dreams are? Then you have come to the right place. In this post, I will go over the general bear positive and negative messages. Next we’ll view the bear symbol from different angles.

Bear Symbolism in Dreams

Let’s begin with eleven general dream meanings for the bear symbol:

Courage.Inner power.Physical strength.Spirit animal guide.Grizzly bear anger.Hibernation time.Hungry like a bear.Protection usually from a mother figure.Someone who is like a teddy bear.Bear all to someone.Circumstances that you must bear.Different Angles for Bear Symbolism in Dreams

These common dream symbols for bear are important and might be accurate for you. However, when it comes to dream interpretation it’s not as simple as our daytime language. Our nighttime language is unique for each dreamer. Why? Each dreamer has their own unique dream language based on their: problems, relationships, past, present circumstances, and possible future. Plus, actions/feelings in the dream can change the analysis. And whether the person views the symbol(s) as positive or negative.

There is many different angles for the bear symbol, here are three examples:

Fairy Tale Bears

Most people think of Goldilocks and The Three Bears when it comes to fairy tales. If the dream is based on this story, then four possible symbolism are:

Time to buy a new mattress.Stop being such a picky eater.Bear the three people in your life.Make friends with a new family. Services to Discover the Dream Meaning Click to Learn More Charmin Bears

In the United States, there are commercials that use bears to advertise Charmin toilet paper. Which could appear in your nighttime dreams. Perhaps your bear dream could mean:

Stock up on toilet paper.Clean up the poop in your life.Learn to wipe your butt properly (giggle).Teddy Bears

Stuffed teddy bears are very popular to the point that there are companies where you can custom make your own. Usually we think of it as a children’s toy; nonetheless, adults also love them.

If a teddy bear appears in your dream, the symbol might be about:

A childhood memory. The perfect gift for a child.Your inner child needs attention.Nightmares about an abusive ex who gave you a teddy bear on the first date.Other Considerations of Bear Symbolism in Dreams

Different cultures have similar and different ideas about the bear symbolism. For instance, Native American and Celtic. You might want to research these and other counties bear symbol meanings on the internet.

Bear In Lenormand Deck

I’ve been studying Lenormand since my dream that you can read in the post Dream that Led to Lenormand Cards. Studying the cards even brought about the first dream (that I can remember) with a bear.

The Lenormand bear card definitions include the power, protection, courage, and other general meanings. Along with:

Money.Business.Authority position. An overbearing person.Weight issues. And other intuitive messages the reader receives.

Below this blog post, you will find the pin of the bear card for my upcoming Lenormand deck with my cat, Merlin, who passed on February 6, 2021.

In Conclusion

Hopefully, this post assisted you with your bear symbol. Please remember that dream interpretation is much more than what a symbol means. Dream Types: What Type of Dream Did You Have?

When Sheila Balgobin mentioned her dream types during our recent conversation, I was intrigued as they’re similar yet different than my dream categories. I knew her guest post would add value to my readers, so without further ado:

The Relationship Between the Unconscious and Conscious Minds

In order for psychological healing to occur, a relationship between the conscious (the part of us that says “I”) and the unconscious must be established. A relationship is achieved when the conscious mind becomes aware of the contents of the unconscious – remember, the unconscious knows all about us, while the “I” part of us knows nothing or very little about our unconscious – until some disturbance arises.

It is important to note that, whether or not the unconscious helps or hinders us depends on our relationship with it. In ancient religion Gods and Goddesses were jealous and their favour needed to be won – psychologically, this means that we must pay attention to the unconscious when it speaks; anything we do not deal with will quickly turn against us.

Five Dream Types

I have found over the years of working with clients that dreams generally fall into five categories:

Smokestack – burning off the stressful “remains of the day.”Problem solving – bright ideas and inventions suggest themselves.Snapshot – “this is where you are at this moment.”Recurrent dreams – you’re not getting the message, so it’s repeated.“Big Medicine” Dreams – these are so important that they will remain clear in your mind for years or even the rest of your life.Smokestack Dreams

Smokestack dreams are what I call clearing the remains of the day – another driver cut you off on the way to work, you had an argument with a colleague and your teenagers are driving you crazy – little snippets of those incidents appear in your dream as a way to “burn off” the unexpressed stressful feelings created during the day.

Problem Solving Dreamsidea

Do you know how many things were invented because of dreams? Some of them are:

GoogleSewing machinesShelley’s novel FrankensteinPaul McCartney’s song YesterdayThe movie TerminatorEinstein’s famous equation e=mc2

The unconscious mind continues to work – even when we sleep – and will work on a problem until a solution is found. The answer may come in a dream, or it may be something someone says or an article you read; the unconscious uses whatever means appropriate to get your attention and help you solve the issue(s).

Snapshot Dreams

As a bereavement and drug/alcohol counsellor, once my clients were aware that I worked with dreams and invited them to present any dreams, I invariably found that my clients dreams were often messages to me as well as my client—the unconscious letting me know if I had understood the message presented – or if I was off with the fairies!

As the clients’ dreams changed over time, I was able to get a picture from the unconscious of the internal shifts occurring in my clients. These dreams I would label as “snapshots” – they give a quick summary of what is going on.

For some clients, however, dreaming was simply not happening – from belief systems to medication, many factors can prevent dreaming – or remembering dreams. Over the years, I developed a simple, but effective techniques to help people to improve both their ability to dream as well as being able to recall them.

Recurrent Dreams

These dreams are really about the unconscious trying to get your attention….and the message is either being ignored or misunderstood.

Think Groundhog Day every night!

When working with clients who have had repetitive dreams – sometimes for their entire lives – we carefully look at the clues in the dream and “crack the code” (each dreamer has their own personal dream symbols – as well as universal symbols common to everyone on the planet). If we have correctly understood the message, the dream stops and never returns; if however, the dream was either not understood or partially understood, the dream will repeat or vary in detail from the original dream, respectively.

It was a recurring dream that I have no doubt saved my life – and it was also in my next dream category, Big Medicine Dreams.

Big Medicine DreamsDream Types

This last category is for dreams that are so powerful and deep that they remain a clear memory for years or even the rest of one’s life.

These are life-changing dreams – if they are heeded.

They may be about your current life, but I have found personally that these “big” dreams usually foretell future events. Such dreams not only brought my second husband back into my life (I met him before I married my first!) but as I said, literally saved my life. When I think what could have happened had I NOT listened, I can only say a silent prayer of thanks for the warning.

To learn what the dream was about, the story is in my book, Wide Awake in Your Dreams: Listening to the Thoughts of Your Heart (on Amazon)

Intuition for the Correct Dream Symbol Meaning

If you are unsure of what an image message is, use your intuition for the correct dream symbol meaning that feels spot on to you. One symbol can have many interpretations. Sadly, many people won’t take a moment to reflect on what a dream symbol means to them. Instead they instantly click on a dream dictionary app. If you must do this, please allow your intuition to guide you to choose one of the definitions listed in the app that feels right to you. Don’t be surprised if none of them do. This is what happened to me decades ago when I researched symbols in a dream dictionary book. The author was off on so many of my symbols that I donated her book.

Intuition for the Correct Dream Symbol Meaning

If you are already in touch with your intuition, please scroll down to the two exercises to help you find your correct dream symbol meaning.

For those of you who are unsure if you’re truly in touch with your intuition or if it’s just your ego, here’s three ways to tell the difference:

Intuition is soft and quiet, while the ego is loud.Intuition happens quickly, yet ego keeps going…Intuition often doesn’t make sense, but the ego has a million reasons why it’s right. Dream Interpretation by Email Click to Learn More

Intuition can come across as a so-called irrational fear or being suspicious of someone. It may occur as a knowing, a gut feeling, or a chill in a warm room. However your intuition happens, it’s important to learn to trust it. For instance when you intuitively get to:

Take an umbrella on a sunny day.Drive the back roads instead of the highway to go home.

Perhaps, there’s an accident that causes a traffic jam for hours. Or your car breaks down and it’s safer and easier to pull over on the back roads. The reason you take an umbrella was an unexpected rain shower. Or a mugger saw it, realized you wouldn’t be an easy target, and picked another victim. You never know!

It takes time to trust your intuition. It doesn’t help when people tell you’re wrong. Here’s an article from my other website about Trusting Your Intuition Despite Other’s Opinions.

Two Exercises for the Correct Dream Symbol Meaning.

Use one or both exercises to find your symbol message.

One

Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths. Then visualize, feel, or just know the symbol is there. Ask what does this symbol means and allow the answer to come without thinking of the answer. You might receive a memory to connect the symbol with, hear a song lyric, see a scene out of a movie, or just know the answer.

Continue this exercise for every dream you remember. Until the day arrives that you intuitively know the symbol message without doing the exercise.

Two

This exercise is for those of you who use a dream dictionary app or book. If there is more than one interpretation for a dream symbol, practice each meaning separately. Close your eyes and review the symbol that was in your dream. Then take the dream app’s meaning for the symbol.

What does your intuition tell you about this meaning for your symbol? Don’t think of it, instead allow the answer to come. You may hear a no, feel a bad pressure in your gut, receive a different meaning, or an inner ding of yes this is correct. Continue to do practice this with the app/book’s other interpretation of your dream symbol.

In time you may delete the dream dictionary app or toss the book. Whether or not you stop using a dream dictionary, please practice exercise one, too.

Final Thoughts

Remember a symbol is only one step for dream analysis. Once you become comfortable using your intuition for the correct dream symbol meaning, take the next step and apply it to interpreting your dreams!

Please check out my other blog post for more information on dream analysis. If you need additional help, click on dream interpretation services. For those who like to do it themselves, visit the shop page for books, oracle cards, online courses, and meditations.

Dream that Led to Lenormand Cards

I had a compelling dream that led to Lenormand cards! It was a combination of a solution and precognitive dreams. Plus, this interesting dream showcased how a symbol can be a play on words and how the amount of time varies to reveal a precognitive message.

Dream that Led to Lenormand Cards

On this particular night I had a few dreams about oracle cards, which played a part in the puzzle of discovering a solution for my upcoming fourth deck.

What’s Pamela Dreaming?

I entered a car from the passenger side and was about to crawl into the driver side, when some alien grabbed me in a chokehold. Either this alien didn’t appear in the physical or I don’t remember its appearance. What I do remember is the feeling of this isn’t a human being. Next the alien shouted, “Don’t you hurt my child!” Shocked that he thought I would even do this, I responded, “I would never hurt a child.”

In the next scene, I was in someone’s lab type room showing items that I had somehow acquired from the alien to the person in charge. We put a jacket up on the computer screen to examine it.

Now, you’re are probably wondering how the heck did this dream lead to Lenormand cards? This is why knowing what has occurred and is happening in your life is relevant to dream analysis.

Analyze Your Dreams oracle cards Analyze Your Dreams Oracle Deck Pamela’s Background and Current Information

In the mid-nineties I began to learn tarot cards, then later incorporated oracle cards into my education. Today I “only” own twelve tarot decks, twenty-seven oracle decks, and two rune sets (not really my thing). Also, at this time I have created three oracle decks.

As some of you may know, my cat, Merlin, crossed over on February 6, 2021. Merlin’s life and passing inspired me to write the blogs Precognitive Dreams for an Upcoming Death and My Baby Boy, Merlin. At the time of his death, I decided to create a deck to honor his life. However, I wasn’t sure exactly how to go about it. Maybe a deck using the twenty-two arcana of the tarot and some extras?

The next morning after my oracle and alien dreams, I thought about them, yet didn’t feel the need to interpret them. Rather I felt inspired to focus on the way to proceed with the deck of Merlin and reviewed the beginnings of a possible Fool card I created; nevertheless, something felt off.

I went to Game Crafters to check out different boxes that could work for a deck of twenty some cards without much success. Then I went to their oracle and tarot page to check out people’s decks. All of a sudden I felt compelled to investigate these Lenormand Cards section on Game Crafters that I never paid attention to. I always thought they were a type of tarot deck, yet they are not at all.

Interpretation of a Dream that Led to Lenormand Cards

The Lenormand cards are an alien concept to me, which goes to show that you can’t take dream symbols literally. When the alien was choking me and telling me not to hurt his child, this was symbolic to stay true to the Lenormand thirty-six cards’ path without hurting the original concept (some decks have more than thirty-six cards). While the child was also my fur child and to be true to Merlin’s expression at the same time.

Because of my action of entering the car on the passenger side this dream showcases how I am a Lenormand student desiring to be seated in the expert’s seat.

The dream scene in the lab is a message for me to study the simple symbols that are very different than tarot and oracle, yet at the same time universal. Also, to investigate Lenormand on the internet from the experts. And of course to experiment with these cards because that’s what labs are for.

What’s interesting about the jacket on the computer is that I was kept being brought back to the Cute Little Lenormand book and deck during my research on the internet. We went to a store where I wasn’t sure they even heard of Lenormand cards. Guess what they had just got it stock? Yuppers, the cutie cards, which uses jackets for the man and woman cards.

This dream blessed me with a solution and a short future forecast!

In Lenormand Conclusion

Although the Lenormand cards are an alien concept to me, I’m catching on quickly and enjoy learning this simple yet complex fortune telling tool. It helps that I’m a dream interpreter and psychic, too. Plus, I’m continuing to have Lenormand dreams. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Please feel free to leave your Lenormand experiences in the comments. If you need help interpreting a dream to find out its meaning, visit my dream interpretation services page.

Nightmares Help You Grow

The idea that nightmares help you grow is a foreign concept to many people. In fact, I have received nasty responses about a Pinterest pin that uses the below quote from my book Learn the Secret Language of Dreams. Sadly, those who were upset, couldn’t comprehend the positives from an uncomfortable dream. Many of these pinners went on to describe their awful nightmares.

Nightmares are a gift because the person is being forced awake to look at an issue that they have been avoiding to find a solution.

Pamela Cummins

One person even accused me of never having a nightmare because if I did, I would not have written that quote. When in reality it was my nightmares that inspired:

My journey of personal and spiritual growth. My desire to learn dream interpretation. My repressed psychic abilities to resurface.

Therefore, my nightmares were one of the greatest gifts I ever received!

How Nightmares Help You Grow

Here are two ways nightmares accelerate your growth:

Bypass Your Denial

It’s natural to protect ourselves in a blanket of denial to prevent pain and change. However, we would remain stagnant. Higher Source or whatever you choose to call him/her, wants us to remove blocks that interfere with our spiritual growth. Signs are given to people in the daytime, in dreams, and finally – BAM! In our nightmares!

We humans have denial when it comes to:

Relationships.Career and business.Money issues.Health issues. Our defects. Our assets. And more… Goodbye Nightmares meditation Click to Learn More Face Your Fears

Nightmares shine a spotlight of what we’re most afraid of to assist us to move forward. There’s a saying that fear is false events appearing real. And quite honestly, even if it’s real, fear blocks our personal and spiritual growth.

Fear stops us from:

Starting or leaving a relationship.Escaping a dead end career.Taking care of finances.Seeking help for addiction, mental health, or medical issues.Stopping bad habits.Finding the good within ourselves. And more…Rewards of Facing Your Nightmares

How nightmares help you grow is discovering what your nightmare is truly about. Once you know what it is, whether the nightmare stems from denial or fear, it’s time to deal with the issue or issues. This usually takes time and rarely happens overnight. I know, you what it over and done with; nevertheless, allow this process to unfold without a time limit.

Use one or more of this steps:

Talk to a coach or counselor.Acknowledge and feel your emotions without becoming stuck in them.Create a plan.Take baby steps no matter how terrified you are.Stop unhealthy behaviors and situations.Focus on your positive qualities.Make the changes for a joyful and peaceful life.Final Thoughts

Can you understand how nightmares help you grow? Nightmares aren’t a punishment; they are gifts alerting you to unhealthy behaviors or situations that are detrimental to your personal and spiritual growth. Therefore, the next time you have a nightmare – find the lesson in it.

If you desire to free up head space from nightmares, allow me to assist you with the clarity of your nightmares that leads to peace of mind. Please click to learn more about my dream interpretation services.

Dream Meanings for Boundary Setting

The idea to do a blog about dream meanings for boundary setting came from a recent post I did on LinkedIn. A connection commented how she never thought making boundaries would appear in a dream. However, our daytime actions may trigger nighttime dreams, while giving solution steps to take. Here’s the quote from my first book, Psychic Wisdom on Love and Relationships.

[image error]Pamela Cummins’ quotes on QuotesLyfe

Before going into the dream analysis aspect, these are four important areas of boundary setting:

Physical – to protect your body and possessions.Emotions – to safeguard your emotional wellbeing.Mind – to protect your mental state.Spiritual – to safeguard your spirituality.Dream Meanings for Boundary Setting

When it comes to dream symbols for creating boundaries the possibilities are endless. Here are some examples:

Brick wall.Fence.To walk or run away from a person, object or whatever.A human talking, yelling, punching, kicking, and more actions.A cat’s hissing, growling, swatting, scratching, or biting.A dog barking, growling, biting, or digging.Any animal attack. The word no.Water, fire, wind, or Earth that is separating you from a living creature, material thing, or whatever.A vehicle that drives or flies away from someone, item, or whatever. To block or delete a person on social media.

Yet another reason not to rely on a dream dictionary app or book. Rather go within to what a symbol means to you and how it relates to your own life.

Free Gift Package for Dream InterpretationClick for your free gift!Different Levels of Your Boundary Setting

Let’s use an example to showcase a dream meanings for boundary setting. This partial dream of mine will help in determining where the dreamer is at in their boundary making journey.

A man picks up your purse and jacket, then moves it to another area.

Beginner at Boundary Setting

Please note this is not to insult anyone with their inability to create boundaries. I’ve been there because I wasn’t taught how to set limits and had to learn it from scratch. If someone is a just starting on this journey, the following actions may happen:

Sit on the floor and cry.Apologize to the man for their belongings being in their way.Leave because they’re too scared to get their belongings or confront the person.Intermediate at Boundary Setting

Sometimes we can proceed from not being able to set limits to the other end of being too extreme. I’ve been there and done that. This is normal as it assist us in discovering a happy medium. These actions can happen to someone who practice creating boundaries:

Scream at the man for moving their possessions.Press charges for attempted robbery.Stamp their feet and make other noises while retrieving the purse and jacket. What’s Pamela Dreaming?

Now, I’ve been setting boundaries for decades and for the most part I’m at a more advanced stage in my journey. Here’s the full dream that I had:

As I was walking over to retrieve my purse and jacket, some man picked up my purse and jacket and moved them to another area. I grabbed my possessions, then looked at him while telling him, “Don’t touch my things.” When I walked away I muttered under my breath – as*hole.

Calling him an as*hole wasn’t appropriate, yet remember I said for the most part I’m balanced in setting boundaries. The good news is I spoke in a calm voice while taking my property back.

Interpretation

Honestly, I feel this dream was an environment dream triggered by earlier event. Even so let’s do three possible interpretations:

To protect and not allow anyone to mess with my money nor identity.A precognitive dream alerting me to the fact that someone may attempt to mess with my things. This could be my inner male (logical) desiring to move and change my treasures and who I am. While my inner female (intuition) is blocking my inner male and taking charge.Final Thoughts on Dream Meanings for Boundary Settings

Whether it’s during the day or in our nighttime dreams, boundaries are important. Allow yourself time, practice, and making mistakes in setting your limits. Giggle, at times it’s okay to call someone an as*hole.

Summer Dream Meanings

Since the warmer weather is approaching in the States, I felt it would be appropriate to write a blog about summer dream meanings to help readers with dream interpretation. For this post, I will look at the possible positive and negative dream meanings for summer. It’s important to remember that these are general meanings.

Positive Summer Dream Meanings

Summertime is often a season anticipated by many! These are seven possible positive meanings:

Enjoying a vacation.Going on a new adventure.Partying with friends.Feeling the sun on your skin.Taking action in your life.Advancing in a goal.Attending or being in a wedding. Analyze Your Dreams Oracle Cards Deck Discover More at Dream Mystic Shop on EtsyNegative Summer Dream Meanings

For those who love the summer, it might be difficult to fathom any negatives about this season. However, not everyone is a fan of summer. Here are seven potential negative messages:

Dealing with frizzy hair.Running away from bees.Getting sunburned.Passing out from the heat.Recalling a bad summertime memory.Ending a summertime romance.Losing money in business because everyone is on vacation.

These dream meanings aren’t written in stone! A dream symbol can have many meanings depending on the actions in the dream and the dreamer’s feelings, obstacles, and more… Perhaps, sharing one of my dreams will help shed some light on this.

What’s Pamela Dreaming?

When I was nine or ten I had the following short dream:

It was summertime and I was outside. Out of nowhere, different types of bugs were crawling all over me and I was terrified.

As I awoke from this nightmare, I remembered it was wintertime in New Jersey and felt so relieved. Here are three possible interpretations:

Situations in my life were bugging me.I watched a TV show that had bugs in it.Summer is my least favorite time of year (sorry, summertime lovers) and dreaming about the season triggered a negative situation.

Honestly, I can’t remember what was occurring at that time, although my gut feeling is it was the first interpretation.

Believe it or not, this could be a positive summer dream meanings. Especially if the dreamers were:

Stop avoiding problems and put the effort in to create the life you desire. You might be thinking what in the world is she talking about? This quote is from my book Personal Growth Affirmations shines a light on what I mean.

As you work toward reaching beyond your current limitations, your life will metamorphose in ways you can’t fathom today.

A bonus is when you are taking the steps to improve your life, there is less need for a nightmare to point out what you have been avoiding. Instead you will have more pleasant dreams.

What’s Pamela Dreaming?

As promised at the beginning of the article, I will share my short dream. But first a little background. In May of 2020, I had a precognitive dream that was symbolic to stop dying my hair. You can read about this dream that prompted the blog “Dream Meanings for Hair.”

This wasn’t an easy undertaking because many in society still have the belief that not painting your hair is letting yourself go. In reality – I was setting myself free! Looking in the mirror every day at my skunk stripe wasn’t pretty. Dealing with a few negative comments and unwanted hair advice helped me to keep my resolve to continue the cold turkey route. Plus, not to cut my hair short because it grows sideways and looks gross. Thankfully, I had support from my partner, family, friends, and women from three Facebook groups.

I did have a couple of nightmares about my hair. However, by working and staying true to my path, I’m loving my natural hair color and how much healthier and better looking my curls are today. The real bonus is this journey has accelerated my personal and spiritual growth!

Pamela’s Dream

I was walking down Speedwell Avenue in Morristown, NJ (where I used to live). A hot, young man in his late twenties approached me. He said to me, “Your curls are beautiful and I love your silver hair!” This remark filled me with joy.

This dream was confirmation to keep doing what I have been doing.

In Conclusion
