Edible Book Day!

Taking a short break from my Edible Book Day entry. Last night I was baking during Hells Kitchen and fully expected Chef Ramsay to pop out the telly screaming at me for not following the recipe exactly... I think they taste fine and it saved me 20 minutes of sifting flour ;)

If you've not seen Chef's new kids chef show, you should watch it. These kids are amazing little cooks and Chef is super sweet and completely encouraging. Almost makes me not afraid of him... FYI, he finally rid himself of the awful Hells Kitchen contestant that cooked a frozen meal as his special dish in the first episode. I'm thrilled about that.

Anyway, My cocoa cupcakes are all baked and stuffed with marshmallow cream filling (all made from scratch I might brag) and now I'm off to make the buttercream, graham cracker icing, and to top it off, Marshmallows cut into petals on top to make each cupcake look like a blooming flower. Perfect timing for spring, and oh yeah, my book hitting the shelves!

Yes, I am creating a bouquet of Smores cupcake flowers (Thank you Wayward Backers for the Smores idea) to celebrate Edible Book Day at our local library with a tasty treat to announce my new book Sticks n' Stones and the Garden of Phea. They're due at 10 am tomorrow morning so I really need to get going while the little one is asleep...

A Day of Firsts

Today I had my first book signing (Yay!) and it went very well. Lots of friendly people, one congratulated me on being so young and having been published (Thanks!) and I was also asked to do another signing in a town near here. I’ve always loved Half Price Books and they’re a very friendly bunch.

That’s First of the day #1.

First of the day #2 is not so great. On my way home from the signing, my car once again shut itself down without warning and I had to coast to the median in the middle of I75. I barely made it off the bridge, which would have seriously sent me into a panic attack. How is that a first when you said ‘once again’? I hear you asking. It’s not. The ‘First’ I am speaking of is calling 911 because of my car breaking down. We were in the middle of a highway up against the median with heavy traffic coming both ways. Which leads to another first, the cops never showed to help me. Oh they were around, I saw two cars pulled over while I and my son sat ignored, but none stopped to help. Even when 911 said they had sent someone.

Did I mention it was raining?

No, not raining. Pouring. Cats and dogs. Nor’easter. Pitchforks and hammer handles.

First #3. Since the cops were clearly not coming to help, I called Transportation Assistance, which I did not know about today (Seriously, put the number for your state in your phone) who showed up, fixed my car, and sent me on my way.

Did I mention I had to pee?

By the time Transportation Assistance got there, there was no holding it. I think my insides are permanently scared from the experience. I begged the driver to just forget the car and take me to a bathroom! A tow truck was on its way, (yes, I nearly called the army to rescue me and my child) and I asked if the tow truck could just bring the car to the bathroom I was using and pick me up from there. That was out of the question and one look at my son and the Transportation guy was ready to run for it. (Men… smh)

Did I cry?

Hell yes I did. Have you ever been stuck in the middle of nowhere in the rain and having to pee? You would have cried too. I cried like a little girl whose pony was just ravaged by a pack of wolves as she screamed out “NO! Mrs Pumpernickle!” Only mine was more like “NO! Why the f@#$ is it always *&^%$@* ME? I have to @$#%^*! Pee!”

Don’t worry. My son slept through the whole thing.

I however got to be the grownup and rescue us, yet again. I really should have a metal for the number of times I’ve saved us while still keeping my head and not giving up. It’s been rough.

So my day started out all, Yay! And now it’s all like, I just want to go to bed. I survived and the towing company got all my profits from todays sales. Big congratulations there way I guess. I’m going to bed.

Dreams of Demon Cycles

I had a dream last night that Peter V Brett gave me an advance copy of a 4th book to the Demon Cycles. I was so excited I read it in my sleep, and trust me, the cover was beautiful. I think my minds version of the story was pretty good ;)

We're "snowed" in again, I put 'snowed' in parentheses because we're actually 'iced' in and since the state is out of salt, we'll be spending the day curled up with a few good books. Even with heaters going this place is not getting warmer than 65. Time to snuggle!

Prizes, Surprises, and Appearances

Currently, I am reading the Demon Cycle series and as every fangirl in love with a story, I entered Peter V. Brett's warding contest in hopes of winning signed copies of his books. I found out this morning I won second place! Which can be seen here,

http://www.petervbrett.com/2014/03/13...

If you are so inclined to see. My sons crib does still have the wardings, the permanent marker will not be going away any time soon. Sleep tight knowing he is well protected from the night.

I recently requested to be a part of a local schools Artist Appreciation Day and will get an entire section to myself to pass out copies of my book to a few lucky students. Very excited about the opportunity and I will be looking for more in the future.

My book signing is still scheduled for the end of the month, times and such are listed on my Facebook page, assuming I will have copies of my book by then. Still waiting on my order. The store will also be selling a few copies so if you miss it (this being a message for people in KY, that's where the signing is) the bookstore will have signed copies. All others can purchase a copy on Amazon, if you would like one signed, contact me ;)

Very exciting morning full of activity and I hope to keep the momentum going.
