Second books can be tricky, especially in a trilogy (which is usually the case).

Thankfully, Derek Landy is really, really good at them.

Technically, this is the fourth "second book" in the Skulduggery Pleasant series. And once more, Landy manages to k

Ah, Gwen... I've really enjoyed this run so far, even though the art may not always be my cup of tea.

My issue with this volume is that it doesn't bring the story forward that much. In spite of the big twists and turns it recently took, the plot seems

It's been nearly two weeks and I'm still not sure what to make of this book.

It's underwhelming by design, and frustrating on so many levels! I expected answers and got none, with an extra helping of questions. But more frustrating than that, is how t

Possibly the best book in the series, both in the way it's written and in how it explores its characters. I actually preferred it to "The End", although maybe once I've had time to fully digest the latter this perception might change.

The suspense, oh, the suspense!! The answer to "how dark is Lemony Snicket willing to go" is a definite "very". And yet there always remains moments of light and hope, such as those shared by the children.

Also, yay for the twists!

Rear Window meets The Girl on the Train, and it works... to a point.

Guessing within the first few chapters where some of the plot was going didn't deter me from enjoying the book (it rarely does). I basically devoured it, eager to know how the story
