J.M. Hushour was born, as writers often are. He will also die, as writers almost always do. Before then, he plans to write more novels and learn how to appreciate the novelty of the edible hat.
He lives near Seattle, in the far-flung Pacific Northwest and has held a number of crucial positions in society before graduating to Author.
He is the author of the novels The Poem-Skull, Weatherhead, and Eddies in the Space-Time Continuum. His latest novels are the cautionary post-apocalyptic fable, Lux Desecrata, and Anna Ember, a cheerful novel about medieval witch-hunting.
Looming, imminent works include a hyperactive fantasy/sci-fi novel and an experimental novel of love, murder, and astronomy.
He reviews books here and movies online (https://letter

Another one of those very rare NYRB fails, I got about 100 pages into this one--touted as Dostoevskyian by the moronic back-cover blurb--and did find it more punishment than crime, so I gave up. The Spanish Civil War is always a great theme for a nov ...more

Robbie To casual observers: This man is a genius reviewer. His reviews are sometimes more entertaining than the thing he is actually reviewing. I am not the only one who thinks this.
