added a status update: To all of those who tried to purchase my book IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOUSE OF GOD, its publisher, Burning Willow Press, has closed. A new publisher is in the works already. This setback is temporary. When it's back up, I will post here. Thank you for your patience - and loyalty!

"What Made Me Read It I was sent a copy of the novelette in exchange for an honest review. The blurb caught my attention, it sounded like a fun read.

4 Stars for OF THE FLESH. A lot of great tension in the book, concerning a world gone mad in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. It reminded me of an urban Mad Max. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was again reminded how easily mankind can de-evolve into ba ...more

A great mix of sinister horror, the backwoods countryside of Florida, and a mystery that slowly unfolds. I loved Ghosts of Bliss Bayou! I only wish it was a movie! Five stars for Jack Massa!
"A book about good and evil. In way it reminds me of Supernatural because there is God and Lucifer/Satan fighting in that show a lot. I thought it was a good story. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review"

“The wind outside nested in each tree, prowled the sidewalks in invisible treads like unseen cats.
Tom Skelton shivered. Anyone could see that the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was All Hallows' Eve. Everything seemed cut from soft black velvet or gold or orange velvet. Smoke panted up out of a thousand chimneys like the plumes of funeral parades. From kitchen windows drifted two pumpkin smells: gourds being cut, pies being baked.”

“...Until they stood at last by a crumbling wall, looking up and up and still farther up at the great tombyard top of the old house. For that's what it seemed. The high mountain peak of the mansion was littered with what looked like black bones or iron rods, and enough chimneys to choke out smoke signals from three dozen fires on sooty hearths hidden far below in dim bowels of this monster place. With so many chimneys, the roof seemed a vast cemetery, each chimney signifying the burial place of some old god of fire or enchantress of steam, smoke, and firefly spark. even as they watched, a kind of bleak exhalation of soot breathed up out of some four dozen flues, darkening the sky still more, and putting out some few stars.”

“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
