James Todd Lewis is a science fiction and fantasy author living in Orlando, Florida with his lovely wife and two children. A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, he is a graduate of the Mercer University College of Liberal Arts and the Great Books program. He’s been writing novels and short stories since 1982. At first, he just enjoyed the writing process and the fun of reading his own work. It wasn’t until a hard drive crash erased several months of work that his wife, who also enjoyed his stories, insisted on making a printed copy for safekeeping. Seeing his work in print for the first time was quite a moment, and it made him wonder if others would also be interested.

"Trials" is not in the same story arc, so it might make a good break between "Fallen" (which ends the first story arc of Van and Sahni living on Thuria). Guessing the next question - "When?" is a bit harder to decide. I have to get "Beyond: Incarnation" far enough along for my editors to work on it, so a "final" edit of "Fallen" would come after that! 1) Summarize what I’ve written so far – short sentences, not paragraphs; five or six at the most per chapter.

Here's what I do...
1) Summarize what I’ve written so far – short sentences, not paragraphs; five or six at the most per chapter.
2) Pick what the main story lines will be for the rest of the book (big actions, big targets, big goals).
3) Work on outlining them as separate stories.
4) Interleaving those separate stories in a plan for the future chapters of the book will give me the direction I’m missing and grant me new and exciting opportunities!(less)
