My chickens live by a simple rule: They can make me breakfast or they can make me dinner. So when the bulb in their coop burned out, the chickens were forced to collaborate. The actual number is hard to quantify, but is greater than 1 (I've watched on chicken stare forlornly at the burned out bulb) and less than five (since one chicken is never with the rest, and therefore could not have assisted in the light bulb changing. The Triangle – A review

There are few things that make my day more than being invited to read an advance copy of a book by authors whose work I know and love, so the day I got an email inviting me to read and review The Triangle, by Dan Koboldt, Mindy McGinnis and Sylvia Wrigley, it wasn’t even a question.

I was in.

I was in for a treat.

I’m going to make an effort to keep this review spoiler-free. I’ve read all of The Tria

This book is like a Vanilla Cupcake (the best cupcake) with dark-chocolate-and-cherry filling. When you pick it up, you think it's going to be a fluffy summer read, and then, you find it's full of ingredients you don't expect in a beach cupcake. You ...more

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
"You might be tempted to write Abby Jimenez's new book The Friend Zone off as fluffy "chick-lit," assuming it's not much different than the countless other books like it out there.

You'd be wrong. Sure, there is romance, humor, talk of soulmates an" Read more of this review »

A Light of Her Own by Carrie Callaghan

“IF I HAD a dime for every time I’ve heard “We’re all going to die” or “I’ll kill you,” I could afford a better apartment. You can only listen to so many threats of destruction, doom, or death before you start tuning them all out. So I followed the wolf out of the building, then went home. ”

“I wasn’t afraid of your average dark alley. I had standard Agency-issue spells in my coat and a nine millimeter in my purse for dealing with the less dangerous pests, but even I knew you have to be careful with an upset woman.”
J.C. Nelson, Free Agent

“ROSA MET ME at the door with a shotgun. Strictly speaking, not aimed at me, but you don’t really have to aim a sawed-off shotgun. She swung it toward me. “You, get in there.” She turned her attention to the crowd. “The rest of you will take a number and have a seat.” Her paperwork skills might have been lousy, but her personal touch was something I aspired to.”
