My chickens live by a simple rule: They can make me breakfast or they can make me dinner. So when the bulb in their coop burned out, the chickens were forced to collaborate. The actual number is hard to quantify, but is greater than 1 (I've watched on chicken stare forlornly at the burned out bulb) and less than five (since one chicken is never with the rest, and therefore could not have assisted in the light bulb changing. Rights Returned

So, I’ve been damn near silent for quite a long while, because I’ve been waiting to get the rights to my Grimm Agency series back. And…I did. Even my UF Zombie story, The Reburialists, is now mine to do what I want with.

And what do I want?

I want to make them better. Free Agent doesn’t match my standards anymore. Marissa is occasionally cruel and downright mean in a few cases, and it’s often unclea

First off, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. I think it’s common to put the term “fair” review in there, but I saw a review once that gave a book one star for not featuring an actual professional wrestler’s name, and so I’ ...more

“IF I HAD a dime for every time I’ve heard “We’re all going to die” or “I’ll kill you,” I could afford a better apartment. You can only listen to so many threats of destruction, doom, or death before you start tuning them all out. So I followed the wolf out of the building, then went home. ”
J.C. Nelson, Free Agent

“I wasn’t afraid of your average dark alley. I had standard Agency-issue spells in my coat and a nine millimeter in my purse for dealing with the less dangerous pests, but even I knew you have to be careful with an upset woman.”
J.C. Nelson, Free Agent

“ROSA MET ME at the door with a shotgun. Strictly speaking, not aimed at me, but you don’t really have to aim a sawed-off shotgun. She swung it toward me. “You, get in there.” She turned her attention to the crowd. “The rest of you will take a number and have a seat.” Her paperwork skills might have been lousy, but her personal touch was something I aspired to.”
