My English teachers encouraged my writing, which I always excelled.. American, British and Greek literature were well studied in high school and college, fascinating me. Throughout my life family members and numerous people of various backgrounds expressed their enjoyment reading my vivid words and sensuous descriptions. I enrolled in writing courses and annually attended the Pacific Northwest Writers workshops. Numerous years I enjoyed writing Newsletters for organizations as well as descriptive Newspapers articles concerning specific group's Events, Celebrations' purpose, history, cultural significance. The various Newspapers Editors published my articles as written, without chopping and editing. I returned to University studies when my first child was entering University and my other two were in high school. I changed my major to Scandinavian Studies, emphasis Scandinavian literature, added a minor of English/ Creative writing, acing my courses. One of my Writing Profs who won highly honored literary awards for his own writing prowess, encouraged me," that I was not only an excellent student but he viewed me as a very serious writer". His sincere words inspirational stayed in my head and heart, as I longed to have the time and space, eventually penning my ideas into books. Author Baroness Karen von Blixen, a Danish author inspired me. Her pen name was Isak Dinesen. My favorites were "Babette's Feast" and her life story "Out of Africa" spoke to me, very personally. Raising my family complete. divorced mid life, began work at a Scandinavian Museum, then changed to a career as Financial Advisor, I still urged to write. After I tended the needs of my elderly parents till they passed and I retired my Financial Securities Career, my time became fully ripe to blossom into an author. My dreams, life time encouragement from others, my deep rooted inspirations now begun their life of authored expression. My first creativity, I wanted short, light, fun, but also something I could impart meaningful information to others. Visited the Swedish Count and Countess in 1985. I expressed my divided heart syndrome and my symbolic feeling of completeness experiencing my cultural heritage, connecting vicariously to my ancestors, returning to my ancestral home. The Countess became emotionally touched, genuine joyful tears expressed her deep understanding of what I experienced. That day was the inspiration of my first story, "Enchantment Ädventyr." My stories sprinkled from a lifetime of inspiration seeds, that after life's arduous tending, shall successively sprout forth in diverse books. My next book, a Victorian Novel is being penned. (less)
