Second, just because I'm not currently expressing my personal degree of bisexuality, doesn't mean I'm incapable of expressing it on the page. (I'm also not expressing my personal degree of heterosexuality. Having divorced after a lengthy marriage, the thought of entering any relationship is abhorrent for the moment.)

“We ladies will vote. It’s inevitable. We have emancipated the Negro. We females will be freed from bondage next.”

“Women are just as intelligent, just as capable, as men. Constant pregnancies keep us from achieving our own lofty goals. Men have no such impediment, do they?”

“As sisters, we shall encourage each other. Our devotion to art—and each other—will be as strong as marriage vows. Our ambition shall not lie dormant. We shall become artists.”

“A healthy woman has as much passion as any man and can be as attracted to a man as he to her.”

“A man does only a man’s work. A female artist must be a superwoman, someone of two selves. One performs the work she is called by God to do while the other fulfills the womanly obligations our culture sets upon her.”
