Then I began playing more with language, free verse, other forms of poetry; later I took university courses and began reading at coffeehouses. I always loved writing short stories, as well. So, the poetry came first and I found my voice and was able to integrate poetry into my prose. Finally, I wrote a novel, and so now I write poetry and fiction, as well as creative non-fiction. I've also been keeping journals since I was a teenager, which helped me to ground myself, reflect and also explore stream-of-consciousness writing.(less)

Selling my books in 2021

As an indie author, I can tell you it is difficult to promote your books under your own steam (and not lining the pockets of opportunistic marketers). I have been self-publishing and investing in promoting my novels, short stories and poetry for seven years. I understand it is also hard to take a leap of faith sometimes and buy the works of someone you have never heard of before. Poetry can be a h Read more of this blog post »

Andrea Louise wrote: "Thank you for the friend request. I am pleased that you enjoyed Joyce's books. I think The Dubliners is a beautiful little book!"

It's been a few years since I last read it, so I need to curl up with it again. In June 2009, I was fortunate enough to visit Dublin with my husband (pre-kids: my first son was born in August 2009) and spent an entire afternoon in the Writers' museum and James Joyce museum. Such a treat! I bought Ulysses at the James Joyce museum, but regretfully I have yet to read it...

Once I have the opportunity to take in The Dubliners again, I would love to compare notes with you. :)

Carole Gill Hi thanks for the friend request.

Louise Hart Thank you for the friend request. I am pleased that you enjoyed Joyce's books. I think The Dubliners is a beautiful little book!
