The third book is called THE BOY WHO KILLED GRANT PARKER about a boy who moves to a new town and is bullied and mistreated. It's a contemporary retelling of the old western, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE, set in a high school. It's a dark comedy that pokes fun at the social hierarchy of high schools as well as our often misguided hero worship of people for the wrong traits. The story line is fairly simple but the main character goes through a complicated development. It's really hard to write!(less)

I almost always write from the teenage male perspective because I don't feel as if my voice sounds authentic when I write from a female's perspective. I have no idea why that is. It comes very naturally for me to write from a teenage male perspective. I had a number of close guy friends when I was in middle and high school, most of whom I still keep in touch with today. Somehow I am just able to channel their thoughts and personalities when I write. I have some manuscripts told from a female POV but I'm not sure I would ever try to publish one of them. Thanks for your question.(less)

Kat Spears Kat Spears said: " I'm still in the middle of this book but I love it. Love. It. Not least of all because for once an author is trusting me to figure things out for myself by showing me rather than telling me. Instalove crush on Jon Skovron for his talent and skill. "

" The Boy Who Killed Grant Parker by Kat Spears could have easily fallen to the YA wayside, but for the shear emotion developed into Luke Grayson. Because Spears had to emotionally break this character, the point of view is perfect.
