A superbly plotted novel with great characterisation and a really solid plot. Though I guessed who done it very early on, and why, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know everyone and the romance was pitch perfect. My only qualm was the length. I really ...more

Boring 🥱. Literally nothing happens then it ends. The characters are flat, unemotionless, and their lives are dull. The plot doesn't materialize. And I couldn't wait to finish it so I could read something else. Not the 'gripping page-turner' promised ...more

A racist story masquerading as woke progressivism, this book is a one-sided prejudiced arguement about a non-issue in order to cause division among women, something ironically that feminism seeks to address by including all women. I'm unsure of the p ...more

I read the first 50 pages, skipped the next 50, still nothing happened so I read the final chapter and worked out the one thing that happened in the 300 pages I didn't read in about a minute without all the slow, boring, minutea. I guessed there may ...more

“Sometimes what we imagine is much worse than reality. When people stop communicating their feelings to each other it becomes much easier to hold back. When something happens that you'd usually tell your wife or husband it becomes difficult because you're no longer talking as openly as you once were. Soon you start to withhold more and more from one another, holding less intimate conversations, until eventually you begin to appear secretive, hostile even. Passive recipients of each others behaviour, rather than active partners. One day you wake up full of resentment and bitterness. You want your wife to pay, take responsibility for their part in making you feel this way. You want to hurt them.”

“Some things must remain the same in order for the universe to flow properly. One pebble dashed out across the ocean leaves a lifetime of ripples. They call it the butterfly effect.”
