MICAH S. HARRIS is the winner of the 2016 Pulp Ark Award for best novel ("Ravenwood, the Stepson of Mystery: Return of the Dugpa").

His new novel, the romantic fantasy "Portrait of A Snow Queen," draws both from Andersen's classic as well as his lesser known "The Ice Maiden."

"Portrait of A Snow Queen" relates the adventures of Ambrose, the royal tutor, and his pupil, the vexing but alluring princess who believes she is the Snow Queen.

Soon, he is fighting to save her from the occult conspiracies that have targeted her, opposed not only by court schemers but also the icy damsel who holds his heart.

I read and reread Felix Salten's "Bambi" as a kid, which is really an adult book. There's some heavy, and bleak, stuff in there...which I guess says something about me as a kid. LOL! Bambi's mother getting shot in the Disney version is just one of the dark moments in the novel. On a lighter note, I was very keen on Milne's Pooh books, and I loved the first two Dr. Dolittle books. Also, there was a series about a talking pig named Wilbur I think, and a series about a kid science prodigy "Danny Dunn." A transitional author from juvenile to adult writing for me was Ray Bradbury. He remains one of the most important in my development as a reader and a writer. Then, as a teenager, I really got into Edgar Rice Burroughs, particularly his inner earth and Venus series.
