Cheryl Matthynssens was born in Upland, California, holds a teaching degree and is a licensed addictions counselor. This has allowed her to interview hundreds of personalities over her career.
She loves that everyone is unique and this appreciation and interest has informed and inspired her writing.

Matthynssens enjoys the universe of fantasy for the way it connects to the mind’s creativity and imagination as a colorful escape to distant lands of mystical beasts and fantastic quests where the hero really does save the day. As she’s matured artistically, Matthynssens has found writing to be a comforting counterbalance to a world where beloved characters don’t always get back up after they fall down.

Matthynssens currently lives in Riverside,

If I sit down to write, I almost always can just hammer out at least a rough first draft. Even if it sucks, it has enough of a skeleton to begin to build on in the rewrite process.

However, getting myself to sit down and write. There is the problem. I can always find a reason not to write right now. I don't know why I do that because I love to write. I think it is because once I start writing, the world around me disappears. It is just me, the keyboard and a foreign world.(less)

I am still a fairly new author to independent publishing so I am sure this will change.

However, in The Blackguard, I ran into an opposite problem. I mapped a character that was supposed to be a villain. However, as I began to write him, I liked him so much that the story shifted and a different man rose to the top as the villain of the story. I won't say which character as I do not want to spoil the story. (less)

Anyone following my blog, well they know my story.   They know about the July 2014 diagnosis of cancer, the fire that ripped through our hobby farm and the many surgeries.  All happening as I wrote the Blue Dragon's Geas Series.  I had to have a lot of push and support to get the last book out.  After the last period was placed and then the mis-release on Amazon were all resolved.  I just walk... “Killing another with slow, deliberate intent is a warping of the gifts that magic offers. It warps the mage in a manner he cannot repair. You cannot kill another slowly and not twist something within yourself, Alador. Remember this: magic is not without cost regardless of its wonder and magnificence.”
