Tracey Alvarez lives in the Coolest Little Capital in the World (a.k.a Wellington, New Zealand) where she’s yet to be buried under her to-be-read book pile by Wellington’s infamous wind—her Kindle’s a lifesaver! Married to a wonderfully supportive IT guy, she has two teens who would love to be surgically linked to their electronic devices.

Fuelled by copious amounts of coffee, she’s the author of contemporary romantic fiction set predominantly in New Zealand. Small-towns, close communities, and families are a big part of the heart-warming stories she writes. Oh, and hot, down-to-earth heroes—Kiwi men, in other words.

There are many other things you can do to help strengthen your craft from reading books, doing courses etc, but in the end it boils down to butt-in-the-chair writing. Don't be in a hurry to get published (either self-published or traditionally published), pay your dues and learn the craft. It takes many years of blood, sweat, and tears to become a doctor or a pilot or an architect, writing something worth reading is no different. Learn the craft first, help other writers along the way, keep reading good books, don't compare yourself to anyone else, refuse to stop writing even if you never earn enough for an espresso, remember the sage advice that this journey is a marathon, not a race. Good luck. :-)(less)

“You must be very secure in your masculinity to parade around in those budgie smugglers.”
“Oh, I’m very secure.” He see-sawed the towel over his back. “And I’m happy to show you the rear view of my budgie smugglers—oh wait—you already saw it when you were checking out my ass.”
Tracey Alvarez, In Too Deep

“But baby, you started this.” The hand on her hip tugged her closer, her inner thighs brushing against the smooth fabric pulled taut over his long legs.
She tugged at the fingers on her hip, wriggling at the same time, desperate to escape. “And now I’m ending it.”
“I’ll decide where it ends,” he said.”
Tracey Alvarez, In Too Deep

“You’re like this frosting.” She swiped another swirl of it on her finger, stood and leaned forward to touch it to his bottom lip. “Pretty, momentarily pleasurable, but with no real substance or sustenance.”
