I'm not yet sick of vampires, but I am getting soooo tired of were-wolves, which is the reason I'm currently working on a were-wolf spoof about a guy who get's captured by were-turkeys.

In werewolf stories it's always the guy who a shifter, never the girl; it's always the girl who is an unattractive (often plump) girl, but the guy is always super hot, it's never a super hot girl with a below average guy; the girl is always the captive victim, never the guy.

Well, in Curse of Were-Turkey Gorge the tables have turned. The hero is a mild manners, little nerdy museum curator guy, who gets captured and victimized by a tribe of shapeshifters, who turn into turkeys instead of wolves, and instead of being lead by an extreme alpha male, they are lead by babelicious extreme alpha Queen.

So instead of hot pack leader alpha male falling for big unattractive girl with no self confidence, it'll be hot flock leader alpha female falling for big unattractive guy with no self confidence.

I'm planning to promote it has a "Thanksgiving Day story", and who knows, if readers like it, maybe I'll turn it into a series of holiday weres - were-deer for Christmas, were-bunnies for Easter... because if I'm going to stage a protest by spoofing were-wolves then why stop with just were-turkeys? LOL! :P

Werewolves are just starting to get on my nerves. I liked them about 3 years ago. I bought up every werewolfie romance I could find and was reading them left and right, couldn't get enough of them, but now I've reached the point where they are just so over done! Were loves big beautiful women, ESPECIALLY over done. My mind thinks - yeah were wolf likes BBW because there's more meat to eat, so why isn't he eating her? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big girl myself and I love BBW fic, but it's reached a point where every story is just the same story written by 101 different writers - there's no originality in were wolves anymore. I want somebody to shake it up so werewolves are exciting again. Thus the reason for me going with were-turkeys.

You want to know the funny thing. I thought were-turkeys was an original idea, I mean, who'd ever think to write were-turkeys? Than I went on amazon to see what came up for that keyword, and I found there are already at least 5 other were-turkey stories out there?!? :o well, so much for that being an original idea! LOL!

Another trope that is so over done that I'm going to over do it in triplicate, is the "cursed object", you know how the guy steals the mummy's amulet and than mummy's curse kills everyone until jewel is returned sort of thing. That's why I'm spoofing this troupe in my were-turkey story.

She has free room of the house, just like the cats and dog, and when she gets bored, she can be found on the bookshelves eating the books. Her favorite books are the mid-1990s vintage Star Trek novels. There must be something different about the paper or ink in them. I've moved them several times and she always finds them no matter where I put them. Unfortunately, she'll chew a book right in half in a matter of minutes and has destroyed quiet a few of my books that way. It's one of the reasons I buy multiple copies of my favorite books.

I did once have a dog, a Cocker Spaniel named Buddy, who's favorite "chew toy" was a copy of "Jesus the Savior", an old LDS/Mormon textbook from the 1970s, he took it off the shelf one day and chewed it up, than stashed it away in his bed. He carried it with him around the house for several years after that. Never knew what his reason was, because he never chewed books before or since, just that one.(less)
