Amazon Author Rank

rankIndie Authors, where do you rank? Now that this feature has been added to the list of tabs (for US Amazon.com) at Amazon Author Central, it creates another obsession to check hourly right behind book sales and book ranking. Since Sept. 28 my prestigious author rank has fluctuated from 12,242 to (yikes) 19,256 in the All Books category, although for Kindle Business & Investing I made it to 3,731 and 5,528 for Kindle Fantasy. Any way you slice it, must be time to hit the marketing campaign. Hey peeps, buy my books please!

Today we have added a new feature, Amazon Author Rank, the definitive list of best-selling authors on Amazon.com. This list makes it easy for readers to discover the best-selling authors on Amazon.com overall and within a selection of major genres.

Amazon Author Rank is your rank based on the sales of all of your books on Amazon.com. Just like Amazon Best Sellers, it is updated hourly. The top 100 authors overall and the top 100 in selected genres will be displayed on Amazon.com. You can see your Amazon Author Rank trended over time in Author Central.

You can find your Amazon Author Rank in Author Central under the Rank tab. Historical rank data is available from September 28, 2012. We’re always interested in feedback, so please let us know what you think.

Good thing there are so many Indie authors. Please don’t feel bad if you’re in the 6 digit category. Things will get better in time.

AskDavid for Free Book Reviews and Promotion

AskDavidIndie authors, try AskDavid.com for free reviews and promotions of your ebooks and paperbacks.

From the website;

This site publishes reviews submitted by the community. In order to ensure high quality, all reviews are manually checked before they are published. Only reviews are accepted which can not be found elsewhere on the web. So far there are 2804 reviews published.

Careful shoppers do not like to waste money, and hearing what other people have to say about a product before you buy it can help you manage your money. Please support this community effort by submitting product reviews. What’s your favourite book? What music do you like? Which gadget is the best?

The submission process is very easy. All it takes is a unique book description (not one copied and pasted from Amazon), and then links to both the book’s social media pages and sites plus your personal ones. Links for Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn, websites and blogs are all possible to have and more.

Also note that many submissions come in so there is a waiting list of about a month before any book goes from submission to promotion on the site. For authors who want to speed that time frame up, a blog post linking back to AskDavid, http://askdavid.com/free-book-promotion, can supposedly work wonders (wink, wink).

When you go to the site, be sure to like them on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ and to share with other authors.

Kindle Book Blast Submissions!

Kindle Book BlastIndie authors, get your ebooks submitted for a chance to be in the upcoming Amazon Kindle book blast. Here’s the poop on it;

Submissions for Book of the Day Listings Are Now Open!

The Kindle Book Blast Book of the Day submission form is open once again! Click here to go to the form, get the details on submission requirements, and submit your title! If your title is selected to be featured in October, November, or December, you’ll receive an email notifying you of the date your book will be listed on KindleBookBlast.com and promoted on our Twitter and Facebook accounts. Thanks so much for your interest!

And if you go to that link, here’s what you’ll find;

We are currently taking submissions for Kindle Book of the Day listings to appear mid October – December 2012. Please note we have some basic criteria for books that we list. Submitted titles MUST:

Be available for Kindle in the US Amazon Kindle store (i.e. on Amazon.com)
Have at least 8 reviews on Amazon US / Amazon.com
Have at least 3.5 star average rating on Amazon US / Amazon.com
Have an eBook price of US$5.99 or less
Have been edited and proofed by a professional editor (this is on your honor – pinkie swear!)
Have a professionally designed cover, or at least one that looks professionally-designed (yes, this is somewhat subjective – sorry!)
Be fiction; steamy romance is okay, but no erotica; no children’s picture books
ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER AUTHOR, PLEASE If you submitted a book before but it was not featured, you are welcome to resubmit that title or a different one. Please do not submit multiple titles – one submission per author.

PLEASE NOTE: Filling out this submission form does not guarantee a listing. Even if your book meets all the criteria, we may not have the space to list it this time. If it’s not selected, you can resubmit for the next round. If your book is selected, you will receive an email from us notifying you of the date your title will be featured on KindleBookBlast.com, our Facebook page, and our Twitter accounts. Please, only one title submission per author, and please do not submit your title more than once. If you have a series to promote, please submit only the first book in the series.

The Wattpad Experience Begins…

wattpadHave any visiting writers used Wattpad to get more reads of your stories? It seems to be a reader-based site and possibly a lot of people looking for freebies only but might be useful for introducing readers to your books. Just curious to hear from writers who’ve used it what the experience was like.

I’ve uploaded the first 10,000 or so words from The Little Universe to Wattpad to see if it gets read. In about an hour it reports there have been 18 reads, but some of those appear to be from me clicking the refresh button.

Will keep you informed if this turns into a valuable resource, or even a semi-valuable one.
