When Sita Meets Sati Part 2

She tried to test my Ram? My Ram? My breath quivers. And, what did she plan to test him?
Devi Sati starts speaking. ‘So, I started my ambitious mission. I arrived on the earth. Mahadev was kind enough to accompany me even though he was not completely with me, but this mission was mine and I had to execute it alone. He had said.
I knew Mahadev had his eyes on me. Of course, he knew everything. He just didn’t know what I had in my mi...

Tiny Pink Shoes

Misti was reading a tattered picture book, sitting on the floor while her mother cooked dinner nearby. Her three year old brother is playing with wrecked toys.
Misti was pretending to read but her entire attention was towards the corner of the house where rested this beautiful pink tiny brand new shoes. She had got it finally after waiting for months. No need to wear those torn pair of chappals.
‘How pretty these shoes are! Tiny blue butterflies, adorning them, looks like they’d fly...

The Truth

‘What does “Caught Red-Handed mean?’ Mayank asked his mother as he was doing his English homework.
“When you find someone doing something wrong,” his mother answered as she read a book.
Vishal, the younger child, shot a covert glance at them as he tried to look busy solving a sum.
“What if nobody catches you red-handed?” Mayank asked.
“Doesn’t matter,” his mother said, looking at him. “Because you know you are wrong, and it’s very important to be right in your own eyes.”
“What about your...

Mahadev who wandered with her body like a maniac, determined to destroy everything, such was the pain of losing Sati, abandoned her?  Is she in a trance?
Devi Sati continues, “He abandoned me…mentally, at first. But I knew, that very moment that it was over.” She looks at me. Her tone is calm but her visage loses its glow for a moment. For a fleeting moment, but I noticed that.
“People think,” she says, “it was my sudden rage, enkindled by tre...

When Sita Meets Sati. Part 1

Which place is this? Why am I sitting here? Why no one is with me? All those people who I thought loved me.

I feel a sudden sense of panic when I find myself sitting under a large banyan tree. Alone. It’s dark but I’m able to recognize the tree because of its dangling roots and that thick large leaf that has just fallen on my lap.

The breeze is cold and crisp. Swaying shadows of trees and a vast solitude stretch before me. I look around. Everything is misty. The dense purple sky...

People From Your Dreams. BarAThon Challenge

Image Link

I have always been fascinated by dreams. Dreams that we see while sleeping. I dream a lot (both while sleeping and while I am wide awake). Some of my dreams have come true, actually! And, it was shocking!

Do you remember your dreams? I do. I even remember some of my childhood dreams, and some of them are so clear! It means usually wake up in the Rapid Eye Movement Sleep (REM), which is psychologically not good. Psychology says that people forget their dreams within five minutes...

Sita: The Pinak Warrior part 2. Blog Marathon Day 17

Sita: The Pinak Warrior Part 1

The bow had shifted a little from its original place. I had actually managed to budge The Pinak. But, how? How was that possible? I was exhilarated as if I had got some elixir. I started to try lifting the bow again but nothing happened. Now, it was impossible to give up. No way! There must be some secret. Most likely I needed to put my effort at some specific point. But, where?
I was moving my hands over it fervently, scrutinizing that wonder. Observing...

Book Review: The One That Got Away BM Day 15

Fondness, memories,All these years, they meet again,Discomfort creeps in.
There's some spark, thatReignites the emotions.Love is in the air?

This is the gist of the novel The One That Got Away by Priyanka Menon.

This book tells the story of Jai (Jairam Nair) and Shyamita (Bose), school best buddies, who meet after twelve years in the wedding of their friends, Geet and Karan.

And then, what happens? Well, I have said much in my haiku and for the rest of the things, you'll have to read the book.

The...

The Power Of Going Slow. BM Day 14

You might have seen such a view if you have ever been to Himachal, Uttarakhand or any mountain area.

When I first saw this view for the first time, I grew thoughtful. I looked up and a small red temple at the top of the mountain caught my attention. How would I reach there? I knew I would but it gave me jitters. Our car moved ahead, reading several 'be careful, be safe' kind of boards. And, after some time, we crossed the temple. It was exciting. Enjoying the loveliness of nature. Vistas so me...
