Location, location, location!

When I can't write and there's a huge blockade in front of my creative brain, I get out. I go somewhere for the afternoon or evening or for a day trip! My favorites over the years include airports, train rides, dark cafes, and anywhere with a fireplace. I also love going to the nearest body of water. It's calming, and lends itself calmly to pondering, and then... writing.

Things I avoid when I have writer's block: tv (sucks me in or puts me in a sad, hopeless state), Harry Potter (I'll never stop), and snacks that make your fingers sticky (constantly getting up to wash your hands is a great way to not write anything).(less)

Ideas are everywhere, and as a writer, I love to find them. It might be the best part about being a writer. Observing life and energy and movement is fun.(less)

Waiting for a Normal Education

This spring, along with a global pandemic came a tiny bit more free time for me (study abroad numbers are down, clearly), so a former colleague and I decided to start a podcast! My ESL Qs is a podcast about learning and teaching English as a second language.  Recently on MyESLQs, as we often do, []
