My name is Day Parker and I hated reading, until a friend of mine lent me a book, "The Lifeguard" by Richie Tankersley Cusick, when I was thirteen. From there, I was hooked and never again without a book. I read all of her books and many more. I still remember the anticipation of waiting for the next book to be released, impatiently thinking, can’t you write faster—for which I now apologize. The exhilaration of being lost in another world, was for me, the best thing ever. I knew then that I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to make others fall in love with reading as I had. I hope I've succeeded.

Thank you,
Day

“You see, events occur throughout our lives that forever alter us, and it is how we react to those circumstances that define who we are.”
Day Parker, The Elementals: Fire

“As an author the question I get asked the most is, “why do you write?” My knee jerk response is, “Because I love it,” which is true, but not the whole truth.
So here is my revised response to that question; “I write for the thirteen year old me who hated reading and craved something different than the boring literature I was forced to read for school. I write to see something I want to read exist in the world. I write because it becomes unbearable to hold so many stories in my head without a way to express them, but most importantly, I write to be true to myself.”
Day Parker

“I before E except after C. Weird?
By rebelling against the rules the word itself denotes its very meaning: of strange or extraordinary character, odd, fantastic.
I think all writers are weird.”
Day Parker

“I am certain there is too much certainty in the world.”
Michael Crichton

“The moment that you feel, just possibly, you are walking down the street naked, exposing too much of your heart and your mind, and what exists on the inside, showing too much of yourself...That is the moment, you might be starting to get it right.”
Neil Gaiman

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).”
Mark Twain

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
Socrates

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”
Aristotle, Metaphysics
