Simon Sidekick short story released

Another short story is available for pre-order now: "Simon Sidekick." It will be available in audio form also (narrated by Rich Adams) in a few days. It's from DRAGON MAGAZINE in 1984 and features a boy who gets an AI smart watch as a present. It was reprinted last year in The Moon Miners' Manifesto, the periodical of The Moon Society.

Simon Sidekick by John E. Stith

Rich Adams has been a professional actor, voice actor, director, and scenic and lighting designer for the past thirty-five years. Favorite stage roles include Lancelot in Camelot, Bo in Bus Stop, and El Gallo in The Fantasticks. He has been seen in numerous films and commercials, and as a voice actor has been heard in dozens of radio commercials, voice overs, and radio plays. His favorite radio play reading is George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life. This is his first foray into the realm of audio books, the opportunity for which he would like to thank Mr. Stith. Rich lives in Virginia with his lovely wife, Jennifer.

Free ebook and info on re-release schedule

As you may know, my science-fiction novels originally published by Tor Books and Ace Books have been picked up for re-release in trade paperback and ebook by ReAnimus Press. This will be the first time some of them are available in paperback for over a decade, and the first of the releases - DEEP QUARRY - comes out on July 1st. It has a terrific new cover by Takumer Homma.

First a reminder, if read the book now or if you’ve read the book in the past, it would be very helpful if you could consider posting your short review on either or both of the following:
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Deep-Quarry-John-E-Stith-ebook/dp/B01FCRG1I0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464297385&sr=8-1&keywords=John+E.+Stith+-+Deep+Quarry
Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30297566-deep-quarry

Many people trust peer recommendations, so your review really helps boost interest - even before the official release! Reviews of any of my other novels would be greatly appreciated also.

Second, if you are planning to order your book, could you please wait until the week of June 27th? Bestseller lists measure sales for a seven-day period, so piling them all up in that one week really helps the book climb sales charts!

Here's the schedule for the other titles being re-released over the next year, all with snazzy new covers:

Manhattan Transfer on August 1st, 2016
Reunion on Neverend on October 1st, 2016
Redshift Rendezvous on November 15th, 2016
Memory Blank on December 15th, 2016
Reckoning Infinity on February 1, 2017
Death Tolls on March 15th, 2017
Scapescope on May 1st, 2017
All for Naught on June 15th, 2017

Third, about the free ebook and my mailing list. Anyone who signs up for my email list at http://eepurl.com/bGL4kj before Friday, June 17th, will get a free ebook copy of DEEP QUARRY. The newsletter that goes out on the 17th will contain a link for getting your free copy. Newsletters will never come more often than monthly and it will always be easy to unsubscribe. Newsletter subscribers will get other freebies in the future. (A couple of audio short stories are in the works right now.) Please feel free to forward this information about the giveaway and newsletter to any friend you think might enjoy my work.

There is also a paperback book giveaway contest running on GoodReads at https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/190264-deep-quarry from June 9 through June 30.

And finally, if you're not already doing so, it would be terrific if you could do any of the following:

Upcoming COSine Panel Schedule

My COSine panels this coming weekend (22-24 January, 2016):

Friday 5pm - The Singularity and Social Media

Is the advancing use of social media services like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, and YouTube leading us closer to digital transcendence, or dumbing society down the path to idiocracy? Let’s chat.
Panelists: David Boop, W.J. Cherf, Cary Quinn (M), Kal Spriggs, John E Stith

Saturday Noon - What Makes them Masters?

In a time when so much early science fiction seems technologically and sociologically outdated, why are the classic works so timeless? What is that keeps people reading and recommending a book through the generations.
Panelists: Sourdough Jackson, Nathan Lowell, Joe Sokola (M), John E Stith, Connie Willis

Saturday 5:30-7pm - Author Reception

Sunday 1pm - The Intersection of Speculative Fiction and Contemporary Issues

Do younger readers understand that the Forever War was a commentary on Viet Nam? Are such allusions wasted effort? Does a writer limit shelf life by tying work too closely to present day issues?
Panelists: Lou Berger (M), W.J. Cherf, Marc MacYoung, K.J. Russell, John E Stith
