Monstrous is a story about the past, how it changes us, and how you can move ahead or carry it with you. I'm playing with time, and how characters have changed over time, and what circumstances have brought them together. Of course, Monstrous is also about spiritual, social and physical isolation that induces a state of horror for my characters. At the centre of the story is John Newman, who, returning to his hometown of Brandon after 20 years away, carries his own dark secrets. He must confront someone from his youth who has become something else entirely. John's old friend Drake is still there as well, a reclusive and gifted guitarist who takes long walks at night, and knows many of the town's secrets.
Like I said - hard at work!(less)

I enjoyed Robotech (particularly the Macross Saga) on Saturday mornings when I was a kid, and later, in university, Akira. Much later, I saw much of Death Note, and Paprika. While working in comic-book retail for a year, I checked out Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D, and Spirited Away, amongst many others. Most recently, I’ve inspected Warren Ellis’ updated four-part adaptation of Castlevania. I don't know the original, but Ellis' script is razor-sharp and the animation is satisfying. What I have meant to watch, for some time, though, is the seminal Ghost in The Shell, which predated the Internet and the Matrix and much other cyperpunk/dystopic futuristic anime by several years.
I’m also curious about the anime version of X-Men which is out there somewhere. As well, I’m curious about Attack on Titan (I’ve read some of the manga) and have been referred to One Punch Man and Bleach, although I haven’t had time to inspect those films yet.(less)

My Fear Itself collection on Audible

I
Thrilled to say Fear Itself, my debut collection from Lethe Press, is now available on Audible! Another first for me, as mentioned at Saints & Sinners LGBTQ Literary Festival.

Fear Itself is a special blend of mainly horror, with a soupçon of fantasy and sci-fi with ten stories in all, which Publishers Weekly calls "unsettling".

Many thanks to Steve Berman for making it happen.

Please check it
