News Week - 5/9/17

Some news of what I've been up to! It's a lot, but I hope it gives you an idea of what's in store.

LE FAY NEWS:

-HENGE audiobook ETA May - Just about ready to approve the audio.

-GRAIL paperback ETA May or June - I've got a couple more illustrations left to do. I appreciate everyone's patience!

-LE FAY Book 4 should be announced pretty soon - In the hands of my dev editor now.

-LE FAY TV Pilot script is in the works - Plan is to submit it over May-June.

-LE FAY graphic novel adaptation is in the works - Got a wonderful artist attached to create it!

It's great that the LE FAY universe is expanding rapidly!

OTHER NEWS:

-I was selected by NWFF to direct a short film for the summer. It'll be a fun learning experience to do something live action. As some of you may know, my dream is to become a director for the stories I write.

-Novel 6 is on its way to finding its people -- the team! Once the dev edit is done or a publisher is attached, I can announce more details. I hope this book comes out in the next year or so.

-What I'm writing now: Screenplay adaptations are taking center stage. Novel 7 is on track for my polish plan. Novel 8 is in pre-production during my spare time.

-What I'm drawing now: Finishing GRAIL art! As soon as that's done, I go to Book 4 art, and then I'll get to start my picture book.

-Blog plans: Along with LE FAY promo posts of sharing art and photos, I hope to also do more informative posts about my creative process and such so that I can contribute to our creative community.

It's been busy as I gain traction with everything I'm creating. As always, feel free to reach out and let me know about projects you want to see from me and also topics you'd like to see covered in my posts.

Cheers,

Le Fay Series - Meet Elaine!

Today I am sharing a new Le Fay character portrait. One of the new characters introduced in GRAIL

Meet Elaine Pelles!

In the old Arthurian legends, there are a few versions of Elaine--two which are particularly well known: one that is associated with the Grail, and one that is the tragic figure that falls in love with Sir Lancelot. For my version of Elaine, I chose to combine both aspects in different ways to create her. In the Le Fay series, she is the Grail Guardian, wise, strong, radiant. In HENGE you may remember that Lancelot had a photo of a blonde woman in his wallet... Well now you know who it is! Though she doesn't appear as much as the other female characters in Le Fay, I still view her as one of the core characters.

Here's a scene with Elaine:

“Don’t harm her,” Merlin says, pulling his Maven badge out of his pocket. “We’ve the legal right to be here.”“What is that?” the lady demands.“It’s the Maven badge.”“I mean, why do you have it? You don’t look like Mordred to me.”“Mordred is no longer Maven. King Uther is dead.”The gun barrel slowly moves away from my head.“Let me see that,” the lady says. She walks forward, away from me.Her head is a shock of golden curls cascading down to just below the shoulder blades. She wears torn-up jeans and a sweat-stained tank top. Her demeanor is mature though she appears young—perhaps around five years older than me.Merlin hands her his badge. As she inspects it, Merlin explains to her the events that led up to King Uther’s accidental death. The lady pales as he finishes the story.“Is everyone else all right?” the lady asks.“Yes,” Merlin assures. “I understand your shock. After all, you’ve been isolated from the world for years, isn’t that right, Elaine?”So it is her. The statue of the fountain lady swims through my mind.“You’re the Grail Guardian?” I ask her.Elaine turns to face me and nods. I see then that there is a glow about her. Her eyes are otherworldly, deerlike and amber-colored.

I hope you enjoyed meeting Elaine!

News Week - 4/11/17

After a hectic March, I am now catching up with my posts.

Good news: HENGE audio book is almost ready. I estimate it to be out in a month.

GRAIL paperback: I hope to have this out in May once I've completed all the artwork for it.

New review for GRAIL by Florentine:

"The suspense of the story had its classic and traditional build up, which true fans Ms. Lovejoy know very well of. I was hooked by page one (I literally read this book in 2 days, within 4 hours!!), dying to know what would happen to the characters next."

--Florentine (Readiculously Peachy)
New audiobook review for CLAN:

"Jeff Hays once again does a fantastic job with the narration. Nice voice easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. Even though this is a society based on clones, each individual Clan has a distinct voice. You can always tell which character is speaking, through his tone, inflection, cadence or character voice. I don't think many narrators would have been able to pull this off. He was the perfect narrator for the story. The sound effects just added to the overall enjoyment of the story."

--Lori
GRAIL art posts will continue this month!

In Memory of Artist Paul Pepera

Today I'm sharing the work of Paul Pepera who unexpectedly passed away on 3/27. He was the co-founder of System Era and created Astroneer with his team. He was my friend, colleague, and a huge source of inspiration. He was kind, brilliant, extraordinary, and passionate about art. He was the best 3D modeler I personally knew. When he smiled, it was genuine and warm.

We had a lot in common besides our industry--we both understood what it was like to have a passion project worth working on until the wee hours on a week night. The two of us worked at three of the same companies (though never at the same time--missing our timing by a couple months--which we laughed about): Valve, Microsoft, Oculus.
He was already a star shining in this world and I always thought he was going to keep going up and up like a shooting star. It didn't seem real that his journey here was finished. Paul was young--a year younger than me. It shakes me up to see him gone. I will remember Paul, always.
Check out Paul's phenomenal work here.
Rest in Peace and shine on, my friend. The inspiration you gave us lives on.

GRAIL - Initial Reviews

Reviews for GRAIL (Le Fay series 3) are coming in! I'm thrilled that readers are continuing to follow Morgan's journey until the finale!

Reviews below:

"Just when I think Realm Lovejoy can’t keep me on my toes and have me fall more for this series I am wrong. the third book in the LeFay series is just as action packed, fascinating and complex as the first two. She has taken the story of the lady of the lake and king arthur and turned it on its axis and twisted it into a really exciting and entertaining story."--Melissa of Hello Booklover

"Realm Lovejoy never fails to keep me highly entertained with this sensational series and Grail is absolutely no exception to this rule!"
--Rachel of The Rest is Still Unwritten

"Morgan was my kick-ass heroine of 2015, and she's back this year with another rollicking adventure."--V.Rundell of V's Reads

"To sum up, if you haven't heard about the Le Fay series, go check it out! It's a fun and fresh retelling of the legends that will appeal to the fans of modern fantasy stories as well as those who prefer the more classical approach. GRAIL is a great continuation and I'm really excited to see what will be in store for Morgan in the fourth book."--Izabella

I look forward to hearing more thoughts as readers finish reading! Reviewers who post on Amazon can get the fourth Le Fay review copy when it's ready.
Paperback of GRAIL should be ready later this spring.
