I used to be a junior school teacher. Then I moved into adult education and became (among other things) a university tutor.
More details of me and my work are available here: http://www.planetnuome.co.uk
And I did an interview for 1000worlds - somewhere down this page.

Now I am retired I spend my time writing or indulging my other main hobby - carving wood.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Later I will come back to whatever was blocked, and maybe I will have an idea, or maybe I will have to throw a lot of it away and start over. So it goes. (less)

Mostly it is something that you just have to do, like it or not - and I don't mean you have to do it for the money (I haven't made any yet) - it is just that some ideas need writing down.(less)

I discovered some time back that I am not a natural blogger - but tonight I thought I would get something written while my blood is still hot!
I have just got back from my local cinema where I went to watch a short (about 70 minutes, but it felt much longer) presentation under the title "Vatican Treasures - 3D".

Ye Gods - what a travesty! it didn't start too badly - a few views of the marble 'Lao... Read more of this blog post »

This was a very well-written book, which shows the author's writing talent, and also demonstrates the thoroughness of her research and her understanding of the ways of Old England - and the monsters in English folklore.

This is going to be difficult . . .

This book really needs two separate reviews. As I am now, with the proverbial three-score-and-ten looming on the horizon, I have to rate this as 'OK' - probably three stars?

But I can also remember being me at age b

This is slightly outside my usual reading genre, I tend to read English style crime - not quite Miss Marple, but quiet, low violence, gentle dry humour. American crime, what I have read of it, tends to have too much violence, only limited humour, and ...more
