I have many, but these are places that belong to everyone and are not just my own: vast, uninhabited areas of the Mojave with nothing but rolling hills and the road running through them. No one can reach you on your cell, and you'd better make sure you have gas, food and water! It's a little scary, but I love the stillness, or when the only activity is the wind. It's like taking a dip into eternity.

Books that come to mind immediately are Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl (I get emotional just thinking about it), A Farewell To Arms, by Ernest Hemingway, and The Catcher In The Rye, by J. D. Salinger. All the books in The Hunger Games series were emotional for me as well. Most of the books I enjoy are on some level, and depending on the emotion, that is to a large degree what I enjoy about them. Thanks for asking this question!(less)
