R. Scott Boyer graduated from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in 1996. In 2008, he became fascinated with the idea of blending young adult fantasy with new-age fiction. While maintaining a full-time job, he couldn't help but envision the kind of book he wanted to read. This exploration led to the creation of the Bobby Ether YA fantasy series, which combines spiritual elements with ancient myths and legends to create fun, fast-paced stories tailored for young adults but suited for adventure lovers of all ages.

Through his writing, Scott likes to explore various spiritual and metaphysical themes, including karma, serendipity, communion with nature, and the interconnectedness of all living things. In his free time, Scott likes to pla

My first choice would probably be Xanth - the magic real of Piers Anthony where methophors and figurative expressions are literal and real.

Second would be Narnia. I wouldn't enjoy the battle for the throne, but talking animals are pretty cool.

One place I'd definitely stay away from is Westeros/Game of Thrones - I'd probably end up dead within a week!(less)

BookLife Review

Just got a nice review from the BookLife Prize for my first novel, Bobby Ether and the Jade Academy. Here’s a couple of excerpts:

a fast-paced adventure with many twists that will keep readers intrigued and hooked.
The prose is pulsing with positive, high levels of energy and moves seamlessly throughout the narrative

The book is also entered into their award consideration. *fingers crossed*

Love, love, love this book. It has a crafty and clever plot bound with brilliant narrative and beautiful prose. There was too much detail for my taste, but this was clearly intentional by the author. While inflating the size of the book, the descript ...more

Love it so far. A little outdated because of how long ago it was written, but the wisdom is priceless. Just the fact that he wrote the book, not for money, but to try to help other authors, makes it a truly wonderful read.
