Julianna Keyes is a Canadian writer who has lived on both coasts and several places in between. She's been skydiving, bungee jumping and white water rafting, but nothing thrills - or terrifies - her as much as the blank page. She loves Chinese food, foreign languages, baseball and television, not necessarily in that order, and will go to her grave swearing that 'ain't' is not a word. She has volunteered in Zambia, taught English in China, and dreams of seeing pink dolphins in the Amazon. It'll happen.

I'm hoping to get Kellan his HEA by Christmas, I just have to finish up another project before I can get started on tormenting him on his way to true love. :)

As for Marcela... I don't know. I kind of like the idea of continuing that subplot (Nate & Marcela) through Kellan's book, but I haven't gotten far enough in my plotting to make any promises! I don't think that story is fully resolved, but I do feel like it's *happened,* even if it was mostly off-page.

And with respect to the follow up... interesting idea! Has that been done before? I can't think of any examples (beyond that last chapter in Harry Potter - haha) but it's definitely something to think about. :)(less)

STRUCTURE ME THIS

I saved this post until the last day of the week to hopefully give people enough time to read “Bad Princess” before this went up. If you haven’t read the book yet, you might want to wait—this post is about the structure I used for the story, and by design, it’s a little bit spoiler-y. I tried to think of a way to talk about structure without discussing the plot, but that turned... Read more of this blog post »

“How could I not see you? With all these huge muscles…” I sling a leg across his thighs and slide a hand under his jacket, over his stomach. “And this six pack…”
“It’s an eight-pack,” he mutters, eyes sliding shut.
“And this adorable messy hair...”
“Don’t ruin it with the wrong adjectives.”
“Fine, no more compliments. Just facts. I love you, Crosbie Lucas.”
“I love you too,” he replies.”
Julianna Keyes, Undecided

“We reach the trailer and Shane digs through the pockets of the cargo pants slung over his arm until he finds the key. He pushes open the door and waits for me to pass through. Maybe later I’ll tell myself I should have thought long and hard about what I was going to do, that I should have counted to ten and waited until I regained my sanity before stepping over the threshold, evaluated the pros and cons like a thoughtful, rational adult. But I do no such thing. Shane’s eyes are on mine as I step out of my wet sneakers, drop my damp clothes in a ball on the porch, and walk inside. He follows right behind me, and even through my wet shirt I can feel the heat radiating off his bare chest. The man is a furnace.
Every warning about playing with fire zings through my mind, but I dismiss them. I want this. I’m not playing games, and neither is Shane as he grips my shoulders and turns us so my back is to the door and he’s pressed up against me. He lowers his head so our eyes are inches apart and looks at me more closely and thoughtfully than anyone ever has. He’s checking to make sure I’m okay, that my expectations are in line with what today is about. And they are. Just once, we agreed. And that will be enough.”
Julianna Keyes, Just Once

“And then he asked me how I felt about you.”
Now I put real effort into wrestling out of his choke hold, eventually succeeding. I pull back and stare at Shane, horrified. “He didn’t.”
“He did.” His expression is carefully blank, dark eyes fathomless.
“And…you said…”
“I said…”
“That you’re in awe of me?”
“Uh-huh.”
“That you admire my work ethic?”
“Yep.”
“And envy my wicked sense of humor?”
“No.”
“My fabulous legs?”
“Meh.”
“You lie!”
