Check out Amazon encore
I am very excited to let you know that my publisher, Booktrope has entered into a new business relationship with Amazon, beginning with a mutual licensing deal that deepens ties with Amazon to a much more significant degree.
Digital versions of a select number of Booktrope titles will be reissued under Amazon Publishing as e-books under Amazon’s imprint while still crediting Booktrope. Paperbacks continue to be available via Booktrope. This licensing deal directly impacts me because my expose on doctor/patient relationships, A Medical Affair, was selected for this opportunity.
Check out the most recent wave of the titles Amazon selected – maybe you’ll find a new author or two. There are short blurbs about each book, along with the author websites, so you can parse through them and decide which to read first.
I am so honored to be part of the Booktrope community and thrilled to have my book about this taboo subject revealed in Amazon’s program.
Please share with your book loving friends!

Same Topic, Different Book
It’s amazing when a writer realizes that in a different situation, in another part of the world, another writer was writing her own version of the book she was writing.
At about the same time I was writing “The Passion Thief” on the East Coast, Patricia Mann was hard at work in California on the next book of her series. Below is the description of “Is This All I Want?”
Four difficult months have passed since Beth’s husband Rick discovered her affair with a former student. The couple has worked hard in therapy to salvage their marriage and understand their roles in everything that happened. Things are looking up until Dave reappears, awakening Beth’s fantasies of what could have been had she taken their affair to the next level. Now that she is faced with another opportunity, Beth battles an even more impossible dilemma than the first time she was caught in Dave’s web.
Amidst the trouble in her marriage and pressure to shield her children from the discord, Beth is also called upon to help her two best friends, both with serious problems of their own. The stress sparks temptation to seek comfort in her favorite vices. But she knows she can’t hide if she wants to save what matters most. The question is, what does she want?

The Writer and the Bride – the Day Before the Big Day
When my first book was published last year, I had a wonderful book manager who, like a maid-of-honor has your back through all things wedding-related, had arranged for everything book-related. There were numerous pre-publication online book reviews and more to follow post release. Others have received eARCs of the book, and would write book reviews on Amazon. The heavy lifting would begin after the book came out.
Tomorrow, my second book will be released. No longer a virgin novelist, and helped by yet another killer book manager, I am far more prepared but still have things that I must do. Top among them is updating my webpage!!! My book manager has set up some great promotions, guest blogs and interviews. My tweets are lined up for release over the next two weeks. My blog is active. I’m kind of relieved that, unlike the bride, I don’t have to run around reviewing menus, music, and squeezing into a size six wedding gown.
The day before your book comes out is a lot like the day before your wedding. Although you’re brimming with excitement and anticipation, your to do list for the day is probably longer than it’s ever been.
Although the tasks are very different for the writer and the bride, her state of mind is comparable. Since this is not a marriage blog (and there are plenty if that’s what you need) the preparation, anticipation, and endless list of things to do, make the writer (at least, this writer) feel on the eve of publication a lot like the bride the day before she says I do.
The writer and the bride are both putting it all out there. The writer is showing the public the work she labored over for months or years. There will be opinions, and not all will be 5-star ratings because no book is for everybody. The bride is declaring before her friends and relatives that this is the man she is marrying, no matter what their thoughts about her choice.
Thanks to the great Booktrope team of Sarka-Jonae Miller, Jennifer Gilbert, Patricia Eddy, Maggie Wright, and Shari Ryan who, like a group of bridesmaids help make a beautiful wedding, gave their all to make The Passion Thief available tomorrow!

Happy Holidays and How to Get Through Them
The holidays are just around the corner. Wasn’t it just Labor Day? Well, apparently not, and it’s time for those of us who can rise to the occasion to do so.
It’s a well-known fact that if you have problems in your life, the holidays are about the hardest time of year. If your marriage is shaky or your children have problems, odds are they will escalate during the holidays. Another huge strain for some families is that most people involved in affairs won’t leave the family before or during the holidays—usually just an excuse to never leave at all. If you’re depressed, bereaved, or anxious, the issue is likely to get worse instead of better at this time of year.
And, of course, family life means holiday family gatherings which, although they’re supposed to be the best of times, often end up being quite the opposite.
It’s December 9, and almost all of my Christmas gifts are purchased and wrapped. My husband’s Hanukah card and gifts are good to go. The holiday cards are going in the mail tomorrow. As for Christmas baking, well, I don’t do that. If you do, I guess you can’t do it early or your goodies risk going stale.
Never in my life have I been so hyper-prepared for Christmas. The reason? I will be moving and have a book coming out this month. The only thing I had any control over timing was preparing for Christmas.
But even if I didn’t have other huge things going on, being ready for the holidays weeks before them feels unprecedentedly good.
I’ve made myself a few Christmas resolutions; it’ll be time for New Year’s resolutions soon enough. Here are my resolutions for the best Christmas possible.
Don’t expect my husband to help me. That way, I can only be happily surprised and won’t be disappointed or annoyed.
Take it easy on the alcohol at family gatherings. It may dull our senses, but it sharpens our emotions.
If someone says something that irritates me, I will simply smile and let the subject drop.
If noisy children begin to grate on my nerves, I will visit the bathroom for as long as I need to escape.
If I find myself feeling jealous of something someone else has, I will count my many blessings and be grateful for the talents I was given.
If I don’t like a life choice a loved one has made, I will MYOB, and say nothing.
If I feel scared, bored, or overwhelmed I will not talk about it. If the problem persists, I’ll talk to a friend or a professional in a day or two. The holidays are a time of celebration.
Maybe some of these tips will help you, too. Let me know. And have a wonderful holiday.
