Ted Tayler is the international best-selling author of the Freeman Files and Phoenix series:
“Gus Freeman’s cold case investigations are carried out with reasoned deduction rather than bursts of frantic action. His intuitive detection skills and the strong Crime Review Team he nurtures soon become an irresistible force. In each book, romance, humour, and country life intersperse with an unsolved murder.”
“The core message in my Phoenix novels is that justice is failing today. The Phoenix believes criminals should pay for their crimes; the current system fails to deliver the correct punishment. His fellow Olympus agents help redress the balance.”
“Life is all about balance. Good and evil, love and loss, laughter, and tears. I think of myself

What I do when I get temporarily stuck is, I get up and go and do something completely different for a couple of hours; perhaps I watch some sport, potter around in the garden or go shopping with the wife!
When I get back to writing it's a lot easier to pick up the thread and get on with things than if you sit and stare at the blank page for hours on end.
The other tip I would give is, stick to writing about things that are in your comfort zone, then at least you can be confident that you know what you're writing about. If you need to include something you know absolutely nothing about, don't try to 'wing it', do loads of research, make copious notes and then the battle is already partly won!(less)

If it’s verbally, face to face, then that’s fine and I enjoy that too; however, I can reach more people with the written word and long after I’m gone the books I’ve managed to get finished will be available somewhere, for anyone who wishes to read them. I don’t have a ‘message’ to get across; I’m simply a storyteller. Being a writer allows me to tell stories.(less)

Beginnings and Endings

‘Strange Beginnings’ #13 in the Freeman Files Series goes ‘live’ on 15th May.   #14 “Dead Reckoning’ is in the planning stages. Patience is a virtue. As restrictions lift from next Monday in the UK (17th May), I might travel further than my study on occasion over the coming weeks. ..Continue Reading

"Not for me"

The damaged female detective in a police procedural is a crowded market. Sadly, this book suffers by comparison with the best I've read from the genre. Not for me.

"I dnf'd this book at 35%. I started it a while back and couldn't get into it so put it on hold for a bit. When I got back to it I tried very hard to finish it but just couldn't. It seemed to me that there were far too many characters and it made for " Read more of this review »

"Expected better"

Frankly, I was disappointed after the hype convinced me to try an exceptional debut novel. Perhaps I'll check in once there are a dozen titles in the locker to see if I want to change my opinion.

"Another solid read"

I've read several books by this author now and they never disappoint. A solid story line, a wide range of characters, not too much paranormal, just the right amount of medical/technical detail to prevent the pace dropping. It's a

An ordinary thriller set in a vibrant time full of change. There was nothing that made me want to continue reading the series, I'm afraid. Not for me.

Why can't books ever have a proper ending anymore? Even a new author is jumping on the bandwagon. This is a cracking read until you realise you need to read the next book to (perhaps) get closure. Have standalone books been c

Can't fault this one, it's strong on characters and settings. The plot is chilling and the pace of the action relentless. Not hard to see why this author is regularly at the top of the listings. Highly recommended.

"Dark and depressing"

I expected better when I read the blurb. The opening chapter was the best part and promised a good read. The problem was that in life everything has light and shade. In this story there was none. Everything was unremittingly dark
