I've just purchased a little stack of books to start off my summer. Some have been on my To-Read list for quite a while:

And The Mountains Echoed
Dark Money, by Jane Mayer
The Lovely Bones
Flowers for Algernon (yes, somehow I've never read that last one.)

But first, I'll finish my current read: Carrie Fisher's, Shockaholic.

What should I add to my list? What is the best book you've read in the past year or two? Something that really stuck with you long after "The end"? (Mine is Annabelle by Kathleen Winter.)(less)

Animal Farm by George Orwell
"I read Animal Farm for the first time when I was fifteen. It had a horse character and I will read anything about a horse. I was pretty far through the book when I realized I wasn't actually reading about a farm. I loved it. I've recently reread it a" Read more of this review »

Been meaning to read this for decades and glad I finally did. It made it's points in powerful ways and the progression of the story was brilliantly done.

This is a very rare instance where I actually enjoyed the movie more, and even found the characters more developed in the movie. However, still a fun little read for kids who like spooky/creepy stories.

Easy, engaging read about poverty and racial divides in South Africa. Told with a thick dash of humour and even more heart.
