Carrie Cross is an avid reader who fell in love with books as a little girl after reading Goodnight Moon. She wrote her first “book” at age four: Blackie the Little Black Dog and the Flying Washing Machine. Carrie discovered her love of mysteries reading Nancy Drew books and The Happy Hollisters series, and after writing three Skylar Robbins mysteries and working on a fourth, she continues to look for clues in unexpected places to this day.

Carrie Cross’s influences include Judy Blume, Deb Caletti, Sarah Dessen, and Lee Child. In addition to writing Skylar Robbins mysteries and reading, Carrie loves to cook, hike at the beach, go boating, and travel.

During a recent interview she was asked, “Where do you get your inspiration?”

Skylar is like a modern day Nancy Drew, and when I see pictures of kids on the internet using a magnifying glass to look for clues, that's a real confirmation that my book had an impact on their lives. You can see pictures of some of these kids on my website: www.carrie-cross.com. Thanks for your question!

Hi Casey!

I wrote this book with an age group of 9 to 13 in mind, although I have had nice reviews from people up to 60 years old who said they enjoyed it. I still like to read middle grade and young adult novels myself, so I think a good book can be enjoyed by people at any age.

I hope you like the book and look forward to your review! See you in Waterford when I come to the library to sign and do a reading.

Best wishes,
Carrie Cross

My wife and I adopted our five grandchildren this past year, so the MG kids might be reading your books, especially our daughter Skye. I hope you'll put my Prohibition-era mystery, The Yankee Club on your to-read list. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
