Jalapeño Cornbread Muffins.

Chopped jalapeño adds the perfect amount of kick to my favorite cornbread muffin recipe, pairing wonderfully with the subtle sweetness of honey and brown sugar.

It has been approximately 21 hours since my last cornbread muffin.

I’m in severe withdraw. My stomach is craving. My day seems incomplete. I have the shakes. Though that is likely the XXL iced coffee kicking in.

It’s the scattered jalapeños that get me. A little bite here, a little bite there.

And the honey.

And the melty butter.

The sweet ‘n spicy.

Fellow bakers, I’m ubbbbbb-sessed.

Earlier this week, I shared my favorite cornbread recipe. It’s tender, rich, buttery, and it won’t make you feel like you have the Sahara Desert all up in your mouth. Also, it’s pretty flippin’ versatile. Bake it in a skillet, add blueberries, cheese, dried cranberries, walnuts, bacon, anything! It’s been our go-to dinner side dish the past few weeks and it was only a matter of time until cornbread muffins appeared at the breakfast table.

May in Photos.

Blueberry Scones

The month of May came and went faster than you can throw confetti in the air. Or drop sprinkles all over the kitchen floor. Nevermind that.

This weekend I’m entertaining my family, 4 friends, 2 dogs, a partridge in a pear tree. We’re having my birthday party since we had plans last weekend. There will be sangria. There will be giant jenga. There will be fiesta salsa. There will be dog snuggles. And my god, there will be confetti.

There will also be blueberry scones and peanut butter cookies. I can already feel my summer wardrobe getting tighter.

Aka the cornbread of my dreams.

Let me explain.

Kevin and I had lunch at the cutest little cafe the other weekend in Philly. It was one of those few and far between weekends where you have no plans, the weather’s perfect, and the hardest decision to make all day is craft beer or wine with lunch?

????

Life is hard today.

Is there really anything better than a sunshine-packed week of BBQs, birthdays, wine, cake, cheese, and road trips? No. There is not.

That’s why the next best thing is a (1) very cold, (2) refreshing, (3) healthy, (4) satisfying, (5) simple, and… ahem… de-bloating fruity concoction to get yourself back on track in a new week. Bonuses: it’s pink, tastes like vacation, and there’s only 4 ingredients.

Take THAT, Monday.

Saturday Seven, 18.

7 fun and easy recipes including dessert nachos, strawberry popsicles, s'mores cupcakes, and sand dollar cookies!

Welcome back, weekenders! Hopefully you’re all doing something fun this weekend as summer sneaks in. This weekend we’re going camping down in Maryland. I know it seems a little out of character, but I actually love to go camping. Maybe it’s all the s’mores.

Yup. It’s the s’mores.

Side note. And this is completely random. I’m typing this post as I chow down on a take-out Fuji apple chicken salad from Panera. Have you ever had it before? I always order it with extra apple chips. Because yum. The onions, the gorgonzola, the PECANS. I should probably just make this myself at home. What do you usually get at Panera?

End rant my blabber.

With June right ahead of us, I’m sharing 7 favorite warm weather recipes with you today. All of these recipes are relatively easy to make, just as all summer recipes should be.

Strawberry Coconut Macaroons.

These strawberry coconut macaroons are moist and chewy on the inside and slightly crisp around the edges. Add a little something extra (and pink!) with fresh strawberries.

Easy Strawberry Coconut Macaroons that are chewy and moist on the inside and slightly crisp around the edges!

Thank you so, so much for all of the kind birthday wishes! You have no idea how much it means to me to read through each and every one on my blog and all of my social medias. We went out to a wine bar for dinner and since it was mid-week, we are having a big 30th birthday party celebration next weekend. I have 4 out of town friends staying with me, so expect a lot of fun entertaining recipes soon!

Here’s a summery treat I made a few days ago. Strawberries were on major sale because of the memorial day holiday and I’ve had an abundance of shredded coconut in my pantry from candy addiction recipe testing. Threw the two together and voila!

Well, there was a little recipe testing and a lot of taste testing involved.

Aren’t these gorgeous?! The specks of pink!

I don’t think you know how simple coconut macaroons are. Read: the easiest cookie I’ve ever made. We’re talking 5 ingredients, 2 bowls, a mixer, and a spatula. Add the strawberries and you’ve got 6 ingredients. I’m coining these macaroons the “make it in your sleep cookies.” Ah! Dangerous.

Sally’s Candy Addiction Cookbook is currently available for pre-sale! My 2nd cookbook will be published on September 15th. If you pre-order it now, you may even receive it before that date.

To say I’m excited about this cookbook is an understatement. But what may be the hardest is KEEPING THESE RECIPES A SECRET!

I’m dying for you to make all the candies. Like, now!

M&M® Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches.

The creamiest homemade ice cream, made with just four ingredients and no ice cream maker required, is sandwiched between two soft ‘n chewy M&M® cookies to make the ultimate summer treat.

M&Ms Ice Cream Sandwiches-- the ULTIMATE summer treat! Complete with homemade 4 ingredient no-churn ice cream!

Finally! Friday! Aaaaand a three day weekend.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Now that the unofficial start of summer is officially here, I figured I’d make a warm weather staple in my kitchen this week: homemade ice cream. But not only ice cream. Cookies and ice cream. Ice cream in between cookies. A sandwich I can definitely get on board with.

M&Ms Ice Cream Sandwiches-- the ULTIMATE summer treat! Complete with homemade 4 ingredient no-churn ice cream!

M&M®’s recently got in touch with me for a little collaboration. Maybe they noticed the smorgasbord of candies at our wedding? Well, they just launched their new Pinterest page, a mother load for all things M&M®, and asked that I put my own M&M® spin on a few new recipes. So, today I’m going to teach you how to make super soft M&M® cookies, super creamy homemade ice cream, and how to combine the two to get the best summer dessert around.

Three recipes in ONE. I love Fridays.

My 3 Essentials for Food Photography.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The #1 way to grow your food blog is to work really, really hard on your food photography. I didn’t begin to see a spike in my blog’s readership until I began working on improving my photography. My photos are the selling point to my recipes, so it’s important for me to continuously strive to get that “perfect shot.” And believe me, it’s the hardest part of the job. Impossible? No. A labor of love? Yes.

3 Essentials for My Food Photography-- tips and tricks from sallysbakingaddiction.com

My photography is what takes up the most of my time. I don’t shoot recipes every single day, but the days when I do? They’re the longest and most draining. I’ve been writing for years and baking since I was little, but it’s only been 3 years since I first picked up a DSLR. Every photo I’ve taken since then has led me a step or two closer to the photos you see on my blog today. And this learning journey is far from over. That’s what makes it so exciting. There is always something new to try, to learn, and to shoot.

There are many guidelines out there for how to use a DSLR. I’ve written a simple beginner’s guide to the basics, but today I want to share three essentials for my food photography. These three items– all relatively budget friendly– help me create images that compliment my personal style and really make each photo on my blog shine bright.

Let’s begin.
