Best Ads Ever. Well, Almost.
One thing that we've done a lot of in this class is study ads. From Ad campaigns to PSAs, we've watched a lot of videos in the past month, and since I'm off cramming last minute for finals, I thought it would be fun to show y'all a few of my favorites over the month!
"Dumb Ways To Die" | This is actually a British Metro PSA. I had never seen it until we watched it, but I love it! It's got a great message about not being a butt head, but those guys are adorable.
Skyfall/Coke Zero | Who doesn't want to be 007? I love these interactive ways Coca-Cola gets people going!
This video is just all nice and warm and fuzzy and I'm pretty sure I almost cried a little.
We watched a lot of videos, but these were the ones that I remember the most!

My Mary Kay Favorites
Disclaimer: All links lead to my Mary Kay website where you can purchase these products or any others. Obviously, I own a lot of Mary Kay products since I work for them, but when you have that many products, it's hard to narrow it down to just a few, but I did, so I'm going to tell you about some of my favorite Mary Kay products.
1.) Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover | This stuff has won award after award and for good reason. It takes off both waterproof and not waterproof with a few simple swipes and it leaves your eyes so soft!
2.) Beach Blonde Eye Cream | This eye cream works two ways - as your eye color or as an eye primer, but it's waterproof. Most days, I use it as a eye primer and layer on the blue eye shadow. After a long workout at the gym, I hop in the shower, hop out and have minimal water eyes because the eyeshadow and eyeliner hold onto this eye cream color.
3.) Clearproof Mositurizer | Clearproof is the acne line that Mary Kay debuted last year and I LOVE IT. The mostiruzer is my favorite part because I am obsessed with moisturizers in general and this one helps that pesky acne! Also, that packaging is pretty awesome.
4.) Timewise Night Cream | That clear bottle that's pretty empty? That's my elbow saver. When I do facials, I always have people put some of that stuff on one elbow and then come back to feel it later. Your elbow feels pretty awesome, so imagine what it does to your face! There's little vitamins in there that pop when you press the pump, so I love putting fresh vitamins on my face!
5.) Creme Lipstick, "Sunset" | It took me forever to embrace the idea of lipstick, but I love this stuff!! I feel like it's just the perfect shade for me, it's a little bit red and a little bit pink, and just all over, lovely.
6.) Satin Hands, Vanilla Sugar | Vanilla Sugar was a limited edition, but the Honeydew and the unscented are still available. If you have cracked hands, this stuff is amazing. It's a three step system (two steps are shown), so you exfoliate your hands and leave them totally soft and amazing. These also work really well for feet if you've got cracked feet as well. Tomorrow, I'll talk about my favorite not-Mary Kay products, but until then, what are some of your favorite MK products? June 22, 2014
Three Things Not to Do as a Blogger
I think I'm guilty of all three. Definitely the first two. And obviously that is not my hand. My arms are that hairy and I'm left-handed!
1.) Don't change your name constantly | I am the queen of "rebranding" and renaming. From Lala Land to Howdy Girl to The Laura Way, I've done it all and I've lost a lot of people that way. When you start out blogging, really focus on a name you want. I'm so whishy-washy about names, it can take forever to finally settle on something.
2.) Don't Move Your Blog. Only to Move It Back a Month Later | Surprise! The host I had just wasn't working out, so I moved back to blogger. You can say what you want about blogger, but it's free and "free" is a college student's favorite word. When you decide to move your blog (from blogger to wordpress, let's say), make sure you can make the financial commitment long-term.
3.) Don't Only Share Your Stuff | Especially on twitter, you need to share other's content too. It makes you seem a lot nicer and you seem like less of a snobby person who only wants to share their own content. The formula is supposed to be 80%/20% theirs and yours, but I know I'm definitely not that good at it. This is definitely one I need to work on!
What are some of your "don'ts" of blogging?

TIGF :: Things I'm Grateful For

Linking up with Ashley every week.
Gym. I've been to the gym almost every day this week and I've lost a pound. I'm hoping to keep this up because I've been feeling pretty freaking awesome because of it.
Castle. I binge watched House of Cards and started Orange is the New Black last weekend, so, after a while, it was nice to get back to binge my favorite show with some familiar faces. I will never get tired of that show.
Packing. I'm moving next week, so this week, I've slowly started packing. It's kind of a nice way to go through stuff and get rid of all of it. I'm a pack rat, so this is extremely needed!
A Cozy Bed. With so much going on during the day, I've found myself falling into bed and snoozing all night long. These beds at my apartment complex are super nice and soft and I'm gonna miss it when I leave the bed behind next week.
What are some of the things you're grateful for?

Wear: Little Bit Stronger

Top: Sara Evans store (no longer in stock)
Pants: Target

Next Thursday, I'll have finals. I feel like I *just* started these classes and now they're almost done? Um, what have I retained from my classes? Well, let's not dwell on that today.
I love this t-shirt. Obviously, the song has lots of meaning to me because it was on the radio at a time where I lost one of my best friends and experienced my first and only break-up to date. So, every time I felt like I wasn't going to make it that semester, this song was on the radio to tell me, even the worst days, the fact that we survive, well that's all that matters, because we're getting a little bit stronger.
Two weeks ago, depression made a comeback but thankfully, I was able to bounce back. So, when I found this t-shirt in my closet last week, it was almost like a sign from God. And I had to wear it.
You can't seem them here, but I also had cowboy boots on, which work surprisingly well as substitute rain boots since we had many pop up thunderstorms last week. And even though it's summer in Texas, those classrooms are freaking cold!

My photographer decided I needed to wear his hat for the last picture. And it's a goofy picture. It wouldn't be right not to include one!

Books Can Suck
Reading is great, don't get me wrong. I love to read - I wish I read more often, just for fun. This post isn't about reading; this post is about writing books.Right now, my draft is kind of in two parts. There's the ending that's already be written and just needs some polishing and I need to go back with my beta notes to get it all finished. I went back and reworked the beginning of the book, added more details, cut scenes, worked different scenes in - I'm almost to the point where the new beginning is meeting with the old ending. And this has proven to be a big pain in the booty for me. A lot of these scenes are rough, written in haste and ready to have my beta destroy them with her bright blue beta notes. But right now, I just want the book to be all nice and done and ready for people to read it. The longer and longer this takes to be done, the more and more I wonder if I'm really ready. If I want people to be able to read it. The longer this takes, the more scared I become. But, at this point, I'm still going full steam ahead as long as I can.

Summer Country Songs
Lately, in country music, a lot of good music has been coming out. Summer is probably my favorite time, because I simply love the summer music. The idea of a boat and a beer in hand, sunglasses and the big old sun, it sounds like a lot of fun. Even though I'll spend the rest of summer doing facials and murdering people with words.

What are some (Country) songs that have you ready for summer? What are other genres you love for summer?

TIGF :: Things I'm Grateful For

Linking up with Ashley every week to celebrate the little things we're grateful for.
This week, I'm thankful for being done with midterms. I studied my butt off for one, but neglected on the other one. And you know what? There was only a two point difference in them! So, I'm glad to be done with them since I didn't get the expected outcome on either of them.
I'm grateful for rainstorms. We've had some wickedly awesome lightning storms this week and more than once, I found myself caught in a rainstorm on campus.
Gym Time. I've been really wanting to get back into going to the gym, and Tuesday, I went and really pushed myself to my limits, and it felt great. And then I spent all of Wednesday in bed with some massive cramps. Thursday, I did some home exercises and I'll be back at the gym today!
Writing. The past two nights, I've been consistently writing. It hasn't been a lot and it's been really choppy scenes, but I've been writing and I think this is the boost I need to get back into my draft.
Family. I got to see a good bunch of my family for my cousin's graduation this past weekend. It's so awesome to see her all grown up. She'll be going to A&M in the fall, so we'll be pretty close!
What are you grateful for this week?
