Brendan Hunter is a private investigator stuck on dead end cases until the seven dwarves stumble into his office. They are looking for the missing Lily Whitaker, a.k.a. Snow White. Brendan takes the case, and it leads him on a wild adventure through the dark Underground. Psychotic sirens, crazy stepmothers, and a tough as nails assistant make for a non-stop adventure.(less)

Fairy tales have always inspired my imagination, and I love to play around with the "what ifs". What if Cinderella's fairy godmother was incompetent? What if her fairy godmother's happily ever after was different than what she wanted? What is the handsome prince wasn't really who she wanted to marry?
Currently, I'm working on Snow White. I've been thinking about how to twist Snow White for years. That's the wonderful thing about writing twisted fairy tales. The possibilities are endless.(less)

Connecting Premise to Characters, Plotting - Part 2

In the last post, I talked about developing a premise. You can check it out here. This week, we will talk about creating characters. Characters are the foundation on which a story is built. They are the most essential part of developing your story. The premise is your guideline to what sort of characters you will need. So how do we connect them? First, you need to look at what your premise tells y Read more of this blog post »

“To move on, you need to fully grieve. You need to mourn your losses.”
Sonya M. Black, The Alchemy of Sorrow

“The world tells me to get over it and move on. They demand that I smile and act like nothing happened. I should act like my pain isn’t real. I’m tired, Renzo.’ I squeezed my teacup. ‘Beyond tired. The only thing I’ve ever been good at is flying. Now, I’m nothing. I might as well disappear.’

‘People say that because they are uncomfortable with what you are going through. They don’t know how to face the loss any more than you do.”
Sonya M. Black, The Alchemy of Sorrow

“You don’t need to decide what to do now. Today all you need to do is grieve. Save the decisions for tomorrow or whenever tomorrow might be.’

I offered Renzo a sad smile. ‘And what if I never decide?’

‘That’s fine too.”
