THY KIMDOM COME

Kim Jong Un

Many a leader has walked the trodden beams of human infrastructure, either to build more, to dismantle, or to simply drop a screw or two to the darkened void below that is the past. Dictators have ruled and slaughtered, created and destroyed; democrats and republicans have waged a war of opinions of axiomatically unequal merit;…. READ MORE

Book Review: Neil Must Die by Kaberi Chatterjee

Neil falls in love with his newly-wedded sister-in-law, Tuli, forcing seeds or suspicion and spilling blasphemy into the conservative Bengali family. He runs away from the chaos, drowning himself in lies and false assurances, only to discover that Tuli is pregnant with his child – and all becomes clear. His fears and doubts evaporate, and he sets out to make life wonderful for Tuli and their child, completely unaware that, even with the impending battle he has to fight, it is written in stone that he must die. A story of silent rebellion, desperate escapism, self destruction – and thunderous passion.

5 Reasons Why Soccer Is Like Your Woman

Kaberi:

Gosh!!

Originally posted on Black Roses:

Is he less of a man because he doesn’t dig football? Well, as opposed to popular and ignorant theory, the answer is no. A man shouldn’t only be judged by the kind of team he supports but also, the kind of stuff he’s made of. Ultimately, he’s fake if he’s the biggest football fan but still a douche bag.

In the world of sports however, the masculinity of a man has been overly associated with soccer. Take for example the manly record-breaking Usain Bolt. He’s tall, strong, rich and complete with a signature move—on and off the tracks. His articulation is tight, no such lines like ‘kung’arisha fiatu’. But you’ll still find that Messi—a man of extraordinary goals yet endowed with just an ordinary stature and the occasional messy demeanour of most footballers is held up in higher esteem internationally. Ca veux dire–a man’s love for football is blind…

3 Street Dogs. An abandoned new born baby girl. Kolkata 23rd & 24th May 1996

Kaberi:

This had to be reblogged! In an age when drones are taking over life and humanity is all virtual, this is real, unalloyed as light and air.

Photograph above: Three street dogs protecting a new-born baby abandoned in Kolkata on the evening of 23rd May, 1996. Below is an excerpt of  a news report filed by Pinaki Mujumdar on the 25th May, 1996 edition of a Bengali daily, named ‘Aajkaal’ which carried the above hear-rendering photograph by Tapan Mukherjee.

This story was carried on the front page of this newspaper and did end up demonstrating the responsible ‘humane’ action of these three street dogs towards a human baby.

This is one of the best examples of sensitive journalism that was accompanied by sharp news sense.

A bright new born baby girl by the side of the dustbin. Sitting around her are three street mongrels. The same unchanging picture throughout the night. This unbelievable and inconceivable incident is not a scene from a screenplay. Nor is it the background to a story causing a sensation throughout…
