Putting it Out There

I’m not an outgoing person.

I can’t go up to random people and start talking to them. Especially about my books. I think that’s one of the nice things about this blog. I might be on a stage, but I’m behind the curtain so no one can actually see me while I ramble away. I don’t know who’s sitting out in the audience, so I don’t have to worry too terribly much about what you’re all thinking.

I’m

English Teachers Part 1: Middle School

I don’t really remember my sixth grade English class (I’m trying to remember any specific class from sixth grade, and it is not working). So I’m going to skip ahead to seventh grade, because obviously nothing spectacular happened in sixth – or I probably would have remembered it.

My seventh grade English teacher was a wiry old man who, while stern, was always seemed to have something to make

My Summary:
Vin and Elend must find a way to save the world as it breaks around them.

My Review:
As a whole, this book was remarkably gloom and doom. There were several points where I stopped and tried to think of any way for it to get worse, and I was left

#5, Baby

Before we go any further, let me say that, I know this is not really something to get crazy hyped about. There's not a ton of competition in the Western Science Fiction category. But it's still a cool little moment.

Yesterday, this happened:

It's really fun to see your book with that hovering over head. I was back down to #10 this morning. But it was fun to se yesterday.

Writing Ahead

Sometimes, you have to write the future to know the present. At least, I do… when it comes to a series.

I don’t think it’s a secret that I wrote the fifth book of this series first. (If it was... SURPRISE!!!!) Is that book going to need a rewrite before it gets published? Yes. But, it was a great jumping off point for me. And knowing where I’m going, is a HUGE help when I’m working on the

September Numbers

September rolled to a close, and I managed to hit the first of these final months’ big goals. I got over the 121,098-word goal by a smidge, and am really happy with that. Today starts the second BIG goal (it’s the same as September’s) before the final month* which will probably be the hardest.

Next month has the added difficulty of getting a book back from an editor, so I’ll have to deal with

Two Week's Worth of Updates

Ooops!
So, I forgot to post last Friday. To be completely honest, I didn’t do a lot of my usual Friday to-dos. And I’m not entirely sure why. I just managed to completely space my normal Friday emails, and I didn’t put up this post….
But I don’t remember it being a overly hectic day, or one that I was swamped with the day job. I don’t really have an excuse.
Anyway. I’m here today, and so you

Editor on a Boat

This weekend, my editor texted me this picture:

She’s on a boat headed for glacial climes, and so, I won’t hear from her for at least a week. When she gets back, it’s time for a reassessment and (hopefully!) an actual timeline for the release of THE BETRAYAL OF FLYNN MONROE.

I’ve been working on Novel #2 for a little while, I’m about 60% done with it… but it’s definitely slow going as I
