How March Fared, What April Holds

I tend to avoid posting on April fool's day (just as a general rule), but I did put up a short post on my personal blog yesterday about getting married (in black).

But let's ignore that, and talk about March

March’s Round up

Reading –

Once again, I tried for 10 books. This time without trying to pick which ones beforehand. And as you can see by the titles, I'm only off by one. It probably

Writing March is Technically Over

Today, I put in a minescule wordcount. I worked on Novel 3 in the Flynn series, and a short story I'm in love with for the sheer oddity of it compared to my general subject matter. (Don't get me wront, it's still speculative fiction, but it is definatley a departure from my norm)

That means, I've only written 3 days out of this week. So it should be no surprise that I didn't meat my w/c goal.

Three Weeks of "Messed Up"

What will be "messed up" you ask?

My schedule.

I started to write this and thought to myself, "Aren't Mondays the worst?" Only to realize that hey, it's Wednesday!

Yesterday was a day off to get a HUGE amount of wedding related stuff done. I swear, I did not have a single break from 10am until 7pm. But we got a ton of stuff done, so that's awesome.

I have three writing days left for this

March Might be the Death of Me

So, I’ve been absent again. Sorry about that. February was an awful month full of bad things that generally left me in no mood to interact with anyone, so I stayed away.

March has been better, but it’s been crazy busy. As if getting married this month wasn’t enough, I’ve also go birthday festivities and I’m tossing a book out there on its own. (Tyler will be out by the 25th.)

I can't make any

Feb/Mar Goals

February, being the shortest month of the year, should really be one of the months I get the least done, right?

Well, last year, I got in my highest w/c of the year (monthwise) at just over 133K-words, and this year, while I am not on that same strict diet of GET ALL THE WORDS WRITTEN, I did have a decent February again this year.

Why I write….

I’m not doing this to get rich or famous.
I write because it’s something I love.
The stories in my head demand to be told, so I tap them out.

It’s not always easy.
Sometime the story fights me with every word, every letter I put on the page.
Sometimes I’m startled by how easily the words have fled my mind through my finger tips.

There are days I consider stopping.
There are days I know I

Elana Johnson's Elevated: A Review

I was one of the readers/bloggers lucky enough to snag an early copy of Elana Johnson’s YA Novel in verse, ELEVATED. And the best part is…. It’s out today!

The last person seventeen-year-old Eleanor Livingston wants to see on the elevator—let alone get stuck with—is her ex-boyfriend Travis, the guy she's been avoiding for five months.

Plagued with the belief that when she speaks the truth,

Questions To Ask When You’re Not Sure Where To Go Next

When I get stuck on a plot point, or I get to a place where I need to expand something further, I usually fall back on a set of questions:

How does it go wrong?
How does it get worse?
What gives the MC the upper hand?
How does winning make them worse off?

These four questions work a lot of the time, sometimes I drop one or two out or rearrange two and three, but I it’s how I start to approach

Books for Birthdays

In a month, I’ll be a year older. And I’ve noticed a small phenomenon.

No one buys me books.

When I was little (and didn’t fully appreciate it) I got a lot of books. I still have ninety percent of them.

But now, no one buys them for me.

Maybe they think I have too many (clearly this is just a silly thought), maybe they worry that I’ll already have the one they plan to get me?

I don’t know

Friday's (Usual) Update

Hey look, it's Friday.

I've had to keep reminding myself of that all day. It is just one of those weird days when I'm completly turned around when it comes to real life. Things on the page make sense... date? time? laundry? What are those?

Words Written: 15,894
Projects finished: 1
Projects worked on: 3(major) 5(minor)

The beginning of this week was all about getting the novella for Natalie
